As far as I am concerned the portal has essentially ruined college athletics. How can a coach build a team when every year 10 to 15 or more of his better players leave? (2-3 in BB) A coach brings in players, develops them for a year or 2 and then some moneyed team comesin and swoops them, up The very top schools can do ok because they have the money to restock every year with transfers, but the ,middle of the pack and lower schools are terribly hurt . I think a possible solutuon is for the NCAA to reinstate the transfer rule such that when a player transfers he must sit out a year to become eligable. I don't think many teams would want to bring in a player at big money and have him sit on the bench for a year, until less he was a super super player. I don't know if the NCAA can reinstate ths rule bit I think itwould greatly diminish this flood of transfers every year. Someone outhere may have a better suggestion, if so, let us hear about it.

Add in: 1) Only one transfer, if wanting a second must sit out a season 2) School accepting new transfer must enroll and allow new student minimum 2-3 years of schooling 3) No more red-shirting, allow 5 years eligibility, no other allowable years (no meds, no hardship, no religious reasons, no missions........) 5 years post High School. 4) If coaches leave for any reason players have 30 days to transfer (no questions) 5) 6) 7) ---People feel free to add-on, we can fix this issue (someone has to, why not US!)

The way I see it, overall there are more players than there are positions. There's no question that NIL will lure players away from the lower levels, but if they supplant the starters from the upper etchlon then their ex-starters will likely come down to our level. Those that do would probably be upper classmen and could blossom at our level.
I think it's umcommon to see players transfer from one top level team to another, like real free agents.

NO players transfer a lot from one top level team to another. Just listen to the btroadcasts and you keep hearing about all the transfers from big school to another.

They will transfer to the next best money opportunity. Not SDSU. I don't know where we stand in NIL funding this Academic year. But, last year the FB program was near the bottom. The basketball squad was was 5th in the MW. Guess where we finished in both cases ? With the revolving door NIL, this is the new reality. Success will follow the money.

The NCAA needs to limit kids to one transfer. However, that's not what the Elites want. They have the money to reload their rosters every year. For me, I would create separate levels of competition based on NIL within the FBS. - Schools can move up, down, or stay based on a six year NIL average. -Five years of eligibility. - You can Medical Redshirt if you were considered available to play for three games or less. -Every HS kid signs a two year commitment to their first School. -Transferring down requires a two year commit. Exception for last year of eligibility. -Transferring up only requires a one year commitment. I'm open to other suggestions and tweaks.
