Ok, I'll play PG: Nick Boyd SG: Reese Waters SF: Miles Byrd PF: Jared Coleman-Jones C: Miles Heide 10-deep rotation:BJ Davis Wayne McKinney Taj DeGourville Pharaoh Compton Magoon Gwath Basically a whole 2nd team that could have a winning record in conference games if they were the starters... Give me Compton and JCJ in the frontcourt. I think Pharaoh is going to be an absolute beast for us inside (similar to Jaedon by his sophomore season). I just don't see BJ playing meaningful minutes... with Boyd, McKinney and even a capable Taj at the point. Even the best Frosh typically struggle a bit to play the level of defense required to start. Compton could play a pretty solid # of minutes, but unless he's really exceptional on the defensive end, I think he #2 or 3 off the bench.

think most agree that Boyd ( if healthy) Waters and Bryd are likely to be the 1-2-3 positions
then there will be a mix of Compton - MG - JCJ - Heide - at the 4 and 5 positions
reserves BJ Davis - McKinney - Taj - toss in the transfer from the Ivy league and Shay Johnson
Coaches have the Controlled Scrimmage 10/20 - with UCLA - OOC games 10/30 with San Marcos - 11/6 Occidental - 11/ 12 Occidental before the real tests with the Zags and the T in Vegas
with numerous inexperienced and new players - coaches will have challenge getting the guys ready for some very tough games - having the best combinations on the floor
we also know that being a starter is great but who is in at crunch time matters most - both for offense and defense

update in the 10/13 UT
As we are all projecting Boyd - Waters and Byrd if all are healthy will be at the 1-2-3 positions with back ups McKinney - BJ Davis - and Taj
Up front some battling going on between Compton and MG at the 4 with JCJ and Heide at the 5 with assistance from Shay Johnson
Dutcher has said this is his most inexperienced group of players - so a lot of learning to do and it could take a while before they are working together BUT they face what could be their hardest opponents so early in their schedule
injuries to numerous players has slowed the progress
Dutcher thinks the offense maybe a different style then they have tried before one that moves more and quicker then they have before also passes the ball more looking for the better percentage shot .
It might take a while for the guys to get into full steam
Aztecs should get additional information about the guys when they scrimmage UCLA end of next week

It will be interesting to see if some things finally click for Johnson. He looks like he is putting in the effort but has always also looked like he is a step slow or out of place. If he has finally figured it out this year he could make a difference.
