both my Grandparents went to Stanford. When John McKay coached at USC and they were the PAC 8, the joke was that the conference was called “Snow White and the seven Dwarfs”. He wanted out of the conference then because of all the under the table payolas and greed. He would $#!+ today.
Some of their alums have felt that they should drop football today because of this same situation. I guess we’ll have to get used to crowds like these such as those at Stanford today.pretty sad really.

San Diego State fans would have melted dead away with the temperatures at Stanford today. They would have been screaming for an air-conditioned stadium.

This isn't new news. They had at least a couple of games last season where no one showed up just like this. Heat likely had a little to do with it but no one shows up when the weather is nice

Stanford's announced attendance was 36K. Not sure the turnstyle.

Despite the protestations of the Cal head coach during Gameday, I can't see the ACC as it is currently configured working long-term for Calford. Saturday may have been the high-water mark with ESPN's presence, and they still posted two home losses. They are going to go from irrelevant to doormats faster than you can say BART.
Nobody is going to want to play there. Nobody is going to want to see them play. Nobody in-conference is going to travel that far to watch their team play.

Im pretty sure that the ACC would support Calford leaving the conference for any other conference, without financial penalty. We are seeing it already in those schools that have had to travel 3 timezones (and less) to play football. Just wait until BB season comes. |

Did you see the photos of Levi Stadium for the 49ers game? It was also empty, everyone was looking for shade, no canopies!
