The politics surrounding this storm are unbelievable. One side, the White House states the Federal Emergency Response has been effectively handled while it’s lap dog media has echoed this assertion. The other side, talk radio and the Trump campaign have said the region has been devastated and many people are stranded, trapped and dying with their lives shattered. When asked by the media about the storm, Biden with a blank look on his face asked “what storm?” **To be fair, there was a helicopter in the background and he may not have heard the question properly.** My question is, in this politically motivated situation, how can we the American people trust any of these perspectives? Here is an article with FEMA, Trump is claiming they have run out of money. www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2024/10/04/trump-fema-claim-debunked-agency-not-running-out-of-money-because-of-migrants/Which, if true, leads me to two more questions: Why are they suddenly out of funds? Why won’t the government just PRINT SOME MORE MONEY??? They do that for everything else.

Even you know (I think) how easy it is to throw bombs from behind a microphone during natural disasters. Fires, hurricanes, earth quakes and tornadoes. Human suffering and attempts to rebuild lives. They are messy, stressful and people die. Name me a major US disaster that didn't have glitches and missteps. Katrina? California fires? Hurricane Andrew, Sandy?? A small person posts the kind of hit n run crap like this. And yes, I've been in the eye of a category 4 hurricane (David 1979) and had to help with the aftermath.

Trump didn't handle disasters well. The George W. Bush administration handled Katrina extremely poorly.
Looks like handling a major disaster is actually difficult.
Who would have thought?

What Musician posted is actually worse than trolling. It' sick. It's arm chair bomb throwing at its worst. Kinda like "raking the forest" or changing the path of a NOAA official hurricane path map with a sharpie for a news conference. It makes America dumber and dumber each day. How people can buy this $#!+ is beyond me, but we have examples here.

Yes, Congress drafts up the budget, but who allocates the funds? My buddy who teaches a Brevard NC says via text his county has been flattened. Trees uprooted, homes destroyed, stores destroyed, no gasoline, roads blocked/closed.

A heavy dose of Republicans voted against additional funding for FEMA just last week. www.newsweek.com/republicans-voted-against-fema-funding-1963980

Now you want the Biden/Harris Administration completely absolved from a reportedly slow response? This is the second time the Biden people have been caught flat footed after a huge disaster (Maui). Pray for the safety of all who live in this devastated region.

If you want to discuss the Maui fire, I'd love to. But what you post is just not interesting to me. America, historically, responds to these kinds of events as well, or better, than any other country on Earth. These are complex events, best not used for making political points. Events like the Maui fire catch everybody off guard, especially the residents unfortunately. That town (Lahaina) had buildings that were from 1835. So, no fire even close to this scale had occurred historically. It's easy to get complacent in a situation like that, so mistakes were made regarding non-native vegetation growth, community alert system etc. After the fire there is an accesment period. People are dead and missing. There is fuel on the water, electrical lines down and debris. The response never goes perfectly....no matter who it is. I didn't blame anybody for the Katrina response. I prefer to discuss issues like this a bit deeper, instead of listening to shallow talking points.

It's really kind of pathetic to try and score political points off of a natural disaster of this kind where a lot of people have lost their lives.
It says a lot about lack of character when the first thought isn't, "Man, I really feel bad for those people and their families, what can be done to help?" When the first thought is, "AHA!!! Gotcha, Democrats! You didn't handle this one perfectly, we've got you now," that really shows a lack of character and a lack of humanity.
Caring and empathy are far more important than politics, but in the age of Trump that has gone away from one side.
And some people wonder why I left the Republican Party after being a die hard for my whole life!

You might want to tell that to the leadership on the ground who have praised the response from the Biden administration. Would you say the criticism of President Bush after Katrina was fair and justified? This administration has seemed to be on autopilot since Biden stepped back. My friend in Brevard NC said warnings were NOT issued. Reservoirs were NOT lowered. Emergency and power crews were NOT routed or dispatched before the storm. His house has no roof and he and his wife are living in his RV. The entire government apparatus was seemingly caught flat footed.

Did you blame the feds when the Maui warning system broke down? How bout the Cedar Fire when it jumped the 15? you can't be series..these are State and local government responsibilities. Where do you, and your friend, get this stuff?..

I have a friend on the coast in a very small town in NC - Some parts of the state are very hard to access, geographical limitations and a lack of cellular infrastructure doesn't make things like mass weather events easy.
