UNLV, Utah St and Hawaii are becoming more likely by the day... Absolutely NO to Hawaii... travel for ALL schools and sports is Prohibitive. Hawaii brings nothing to the conference. Would still like to see UNLV and perhaps Texas State (San Marcos/Austin DMA) or North Texas (Denton/Dallas DMA) over Utah State. |

But, they would have to commit to building a stadium. You do have a population of 1.8M in the state and over 1M in Oahu. Since they haven't been part of the conversation, I do think them going to the PAC is not likely at this time. NO to Hawaii, Wyoming, New Mexico, San Jose, Nevada and Air Force. Not so hot on Utah State, accept UNLV + Texas school. |

I know it's still unconfirmed, but not sure how I'd feel about Gonzaga getting a full share.
On one hand, you can count on them for 2-3 tournament credits pretty much every year (worth $5 million to the conference).
But on the other hand, they'll never have a football team. And their basketball success might not last forever. It also sets the precedent that teams can get preferential treatment for being good at basketball.
I would rather see a carve out of basketball credits. So instead of giving Gonzaga a full share, give them a partial share, but let them (and any non-football schools) keep most of their tournament credits.

UT owns the state of Texas, not to mention all the other Texas Universities that are throughout the state of Texas. How these small Texas schools, North Texas, Texas State, can even be mentioned in the same breath with the PAC is ridiculous. I would be open to UTSA since it is in a major city. I don't feel that having a Texas school in the PAC is a game changer for recruiting purposes either. There is a plethora of HS recruits in CAL alone, as well as AZ and a few in NV. SDSU has never done well recruiting in TX and getting the table scraps that ALL the big conference Texas schools don't want isn't good recruiting. Memphis, Tulane & UNLV should be the priority. |
