After watching some of the other teams play I think Boise,SJSU, UNLV, Fresno all look really good and the rest pretty good. I think the pollsters were too generous and we will wind up at the bottom.

Fantastic Perch, Thank you. I don't think I could make it through the day without a post like this! Awesome!

It’s a long season, if State could the offense going they will be more balanced than everyone sans Boise.
There is not a lot of defense being played right now but State seems to have that edge.
We shall see what happens. Ken N is running the same system that Brennan ran at SJSU, which has been very beneficial as well as their QB pickup. How we whiff on QB’s is a 30/30 waiting to be made.
State has 4 years of Brady’s and Rocky’s offensive recruiting. As Lewis implements his system and plays his players, we’ll see if these problems are scheme or players.

With 3 games under their belt the offensive staff should know what they have and what they have to do. Very pivotal for Lewis that the team shows improvement instead of the same sh itshow we saw. We can accept further losses, but not the way they played.

It could very well just be the coach too. One that doesn't give a damn about details like offensive lineman running up field in an RPO during practice to the point they get penalized for it 3 times in the same game. All the procedure penalties should be on coaching, and the players too. I see the excuses of new players not used to a new system of playing fast. That would be fine if there wasn't a spring camp & fall camp to get all that down. These aren't physical errors like holding because you got beat. This is purely mental. Literally just remembering a freaking snap count! And being a first year player in the system is never a valid excuse to move before the freaking snap count. I'm curious to see if RBs hit the portal before the 5th game. If I'm a senior like Armstead my rear end would be gone knowing I'm never going to see the field under this coach in my final season of eligibility. Lewis is doing the entire RB room a disservice by playing Daddy Ball with Cooper.

I never played in any system that was as convoluted as today's offenses. I don't know how you install it and frankly I don't care to learn and find it hard to watch. this side to side game is beta ball. doesn't mean it won't work, but it is far from my cup of tea.

New Coach, New players, New system I expected a VERY rocky start. I am not too concerned with wins and losses this year ( though I am hoping for at least 5/7) but I expect to see significant progress by mid season and great hope for 2025.

So far they've beaten the team they should've beaten. This week should produce another win. If so, great - and they're supposed to win that game. If not, oh well, Central Michigan is a D1 school, too - and at least in some ratings they're ranked adjacent to SDSU (116 and 117 - Wyoming is 115 and Hawaii 114)! So there's at least some parity over the next few weeks. Should be some close games ahead.

I was hoping going .500 for the first season was realistic, but it's not. This is a complete gut and rebuild. I am hoping to see some inkling of positive change by the end of this season, a winning team culture, something to build upon.

It's like how the NBA evolved into something unwatchable. Basically everything moves faster due to pacing including their minds. That's the excuse. Too much thinking at a fast pace disables their ability to remember a freaking snap count. These guys have been playing football long enough to know the discipline in a snap count. It's not like it's their first year playing football.
