That wouldn't hurt my feelings any. I've said several times before that I enjoyed Aztec football and basketball as much or more back in those days than I do now.

I liked the fact that many of the teams we used to play were also California teams. Sadly, many of those teams are long gone. For me it has really never been the same since we left the PCAA. And many of the people that I used to go to those games with are long gone as well.

10% "tax" to pay players. How well will that go over at SDSU? And it will happen. BTW as far as Aztec Bowl goes, Here ya' go! Not sure how to ring that number up, though. Maybe it was an on-campus phone number like the ones today that starts with 4 and then the four digit extension. (instead of 594)

Here ya' go! I love the phone number. Simpler times. I don't remember phone numbers like that. But, then again, in fall of 1953 I was in 3rd grade and still living in Texas. We didn't come to California until summer of 1954.

Maybe it was an on-campus phone number like the ones today that starts with 4 and then the four digit extension. (instead of 594) And they're raising prices another 4.5% on top of the 10%. On my two BB tix, that would be an almost $900 increase. And that would probably make the decision for me that I've been contemplating for the last few years. I love the Aztecs but last year was $191 a ticket per seat for 16 home games. And three of those games were San Marcos, St Katherine and Point Loma Nazarene and shouldn't even count. Please don't tell me that I don't HAVE to do it. I know that. But I can still be legitimately frustrated that we're paying that much and the Aztecs still can't compete financially for players in this new era. Things like this Tennessee thing will hopefully and eventually be the death knell for college sports as they are today. I would think that even fans reach a limit for what they'll pay for what they get. Especially when I can watch all of it on a huge 4K screen without overpriced parking and concessions. I don't see this as a "get off my lawn" or "a loaf of bread used to be 10 cents". I just think that greed eventually loses when people say ENOUGH!!!!! I can't wait to see what the West Coast schools traveling like crazy back East this season will say when their season is over.

College sports today are making it hard to enjoy like years ago.
I think I may just rip out my lawn and put down a zero-scape or maybe some nice beige gravel out front, it will give something to throw at those pesky kids down the street.
Seriously thinking about just giving up with this fan stuff, this is just getting ridiculous
so until than, Stay off my LAWN!

What value does a college player place on a scholarship? For those that want to be paid, cancel the free ride.

Tennessee's stadium seats 101,000. They have already sold out five of seven home games.
Assume 101,000 tickets x. $20 per ticket NIL tax = $2,000,000 NIL money per game.
What is SDSU's annual NIL budget?

If the University itself is implementing this, it's another step blurring the line of separation between schools and their independent NIL foundations, or whatever they are calling them. My understanding is they must be separate.
This whole NIL has jumped the shark big time. 95% of NIL money IS NOT for "NIL" ... "Name, Image & Likeness". It is "pay to play".
I'm sure Tennessee has good lawyers, but this just screams to be looked at from a legal perspective ... one more huge step further away from the initial intent of NIL ... the unregulated "Wild West".

Would we prefer "the olden days" when this money was simply slipped between the sheets? Every once in a while somebody'd get busted. Worst case, you gotta give back your Heisman. But even then, Reggie eventually got it back (and kept the money) thanks to the NIL ruling …
