This week, the Procure Championship in Napa is the 1st Tournament of the PGA Fall Schedule which is the chance for the non-stars to make some cash and accumulate some Fed Ex points before the big boys start playing after the next 5 or 6 Tournaments. Xander won't tee up for a couple more months probably.
But JJ Spaun is taking advantage of it already. He's @ -8 through 10 holes in the 2nd Round, which is tied for the lead. Last year he ended up 99th on the Fed Ex list and won a little over $1.2M. A win at the Procure would be $1.08M and 500 Fed Ex points which would pretty much assure him of keeping his Tour card after one tournament.
Surprised that Scott Piercy isn't playing. He'll be 46 in November so he can't play on the Champion's Tour for another 4 years. There are 144 guys entered in this tournament but not very many of the top golfers, so these tournaments are probably your best bet to finish high or even win. Maybe he didn't qualify or get an invite.
