OK, I guess this is right down the middle, since both are proposing this to some level. What 25-30 year old wouldn't want this? Yep, I was dumb with money at that age as well. My sister, who made some poor choices in her life, would be homeless if it wasn't for paying into SS all those years. She gets $2500 a month. If she hadn't been taxed on her tips (which was more than her hourly) all those years..she would be getting half of that. So, if these proposals go through, we can look forward to more homeless in the future. What young person (or single maybe) doesn't live for today??

Good point, especially if you're going to make a career out of being a server. That point needs to be broadcast early, and often if it becomes a real thing.

I could be wrong here, but what I’ve read the proposals are different. Trump’s plan like Harris wouldn’t tax tips. The difference would be that Trump’s plan would regard tips as non-taxable income but declared income to not impact social security benefits. I don’t know how that would work out.
