Not a fan of singling out kids/players detrimentally. Praise specifically, criticize generally (save for coaches as they deserve all of the animosity they have engendered). I'm confused. Why make this thread? The title singles one player out. Why not make an O-Line thread?

I don't know what the official record is for most penalties in the shortest amount of time by one guy, but he's in the running for it. I think Josh Simmons would have something to say about that from a couple years ago. I know time moves slowly when you're miserable (as we all are), but I believe that was last year

I know the coaches like to talk up this angle of football (same page, continuity), but honestly it's not rocket science. State's Offensive line did not have any glaring protection issues as they gave up one sack and very few hurries in the passing game and their run blocking was actually decent to good. Mental errors and sticky hands were the issues for the oline and Harrison at te, you can fix that in practice. I played for a coach that would tell the trainers to tape the hands tight on every oline player except the C's snap hand so they could not grasp anything other than a water bottle. QB and WR play was actually more concerning to me. Poke and crew dropped balls that hit them in the hands, especially in the sub 10 routes. O'Neil was owned by Oregon State's Safey, he baited him into about 5 terrible throws that actually exposed the WR way too much. this is a result of not reading his keys. CAL's secondary is very good, I will be surprised if they keep it within 3 td's. I watched a very different game as the run blocking was dreadful. Armstead/cooper had no room The whole offense was dreadful

For some reason our Wide receivers have never gotten heat from our fan base. The unit has been bad the last 10 years. For awhile our walkons were better than scholarship players.

After yesterday game I wont be surprise if Lewis had a help wanted ad on the Daily Aztec news paper.
"Looking for Wide Receivers that can catch a simple pass and not give up on their route. Their is immediate opening for alot of playing time. Speed is a plus."

Surprised Poke has had trouble hanging on to the ball. He definitely has speed but his drops have been very costly.

The best WR on this team was a walk-on The best WR this program has for the last decade or so was also a walk-on It's not like we have some amazing walk-on program like Nebraska had in the 1970s. Wish we had a guy like that kid from Oregon State who was magically open on every play

THAT'S one of the reasons for that kid being open all day. He had a great game even though he dropped a sure length-of-the-field TD.

It's why our WRs look good in camp 😂..but, I do think this kid is talented even with the drop. Like the other OSU WRs weren't 7-11, open 24/7 like he was. Like even against our DBs of the past he'd have a great game. Not as good. But, his talent shows

Danny gets a D He was pretty bad and had the turnover… missed reads and more importantly missed a wide open Brown on the first play of the game… it would have been a big gainer…
WRs get a B- They weren’t great, but they were open and created some separation…
RBs get a C No holes, several big runs called back because of penalty which limited the number of run calls… Hard to call runs on 1st and 20
OL gets a F They were dreadful… this is by far the biggest weakness State has right now… some of it might be talent, but they thinking instead of playing so they are a half step slow, which in turn means they are either missing blocks or holding…
I really like this staff and believe in what Lewis is doing… I just hope the guys get up to speed…

What has happened to Armstread? Two years ago I thought he was going to be a really good running back. But now he looks really slow and plodding. Not good at all.

He is not the guy for this offense… if you put him in the offense instead of Penny, he would have been a star, not Penny, but he would have been very good…
