I don’t want to see any of the guys on either team hurt, but the hit to the other teams WR that put him down for a whirl pretty much broke their offense. I knew a pick was coming after that. Looked like Aztec defense of old. Who laid the wood on that play?

Who laid the wood on that play? #0 Phillips, I watched through the whole replay especially looking forward to that play because I saw it live at Snapdragon and while me and my family was concerned for the WR a little part inside of me was giddy over that hit

He ruined it by taunting the dude he hit though

Agree. it made it worse that the guy was laid out on the field so long. I think our player just got caught up in the emotion of the moment. Hopefully he doesn't react that way again.

He ruined it by taunting the dude he hit though Lewis had a talk with him on the sideline after that. Hopefully lesson learned so it doesn't happen in a game, at a time, when it costs us the victory.

Great play marred by a very selfish and stupid decision after the play. There was a little too much of that on Saturday night, too - I totally get being stoked about making a big play, but that's what they're out there to do. Take care of business and act like you've done it that way forever instead of dancing around like some fool on a TikTok video whenever you make a play.
Discipline. And it was lacking elsewhere, as well. See: Aztecs Penalties.

So much better now than during a conference game at a crucial moment. Same with Louis shoving the QB long after he threw an INT

This is very much a teachable event on the taunting after the hit by Phillips. He will learn and get better. I’m glad the opponent was ok most importantly but that was a nice clean hit.

OK, sure, but the dude's a senior. If you haven't learned by now.......standing over a player and taunting will get your team a 15-yard unsportsmanlike....every....single....time. You'd think some of our players would learn by now.

Play like you've done it many times, no need to show off and taunt.
Oldie Out

We all know that by the time a player is a senior he should have enough disciple to not do this but it does and did happen unfortunately. Some people might need to be told 10 times or more. If you all have kids we know this to be true lol
But I'm banking on the coaching staff to be able to reach Phillips. Play hard, play with emotion, but play smart!

Otherwise he'll be wishing we had canopies covering the bench area.

While he is a senior, he was also a JC transfer, so he's new to this level of play. Probably caught up in the emotion of being in the stadium under the big lights. He's active on Twitter though, and is saying he'll clean up the taunting. He seems like a good dude who wants to improve.

I saw #0 talking with #24 after the game. Don't know what was said, but it looked like Phillips was checking up on him and he was saying all good. I thought that was classy.
