An interesting look at the $$ required to compete for top-tier players in the NIL era... www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/08/31/business/nil-money-ncaa.htmlMy take on all this and "The New Era" that ESPN and Fox gushed about all week... I've already got one foot off the crazy train, opting for single-game purchases over season ticket packages in football and hoops until at least they close the back door (aka the Transfer Portal). They got their Stadium Excellence Fund gift out of me and Aztec Club and they ran wild with printing fees, and fees for this, that and the other thing and still couldn't find me tickets for the Final Four. So... No. No season tickets, no Texas A&M Commerce, no NIL. Fix the ship-jumping that is the portal at least, then I'll take another look at season tickets. I'll swing by for Oregon State and Wazzu and still take in a road game -- I'm just not shelling out for a strong safety who may or may not still be on the Mesa when bowl season starts in three months. I need "Aztecs For Life" -- not "Aztecs-Lite".

" Aztec for Life " is likely gone forever!
Hopefully, not!

And unless you're sitting in Gucci Row - bleeding money to them, guess who's not getting ANY special consideration when it comes to special events like NCAA finals, MWC Tournament seating, holiday tournaments. They've managed to shoot themselves in the feet with every new - and dumb - money grabbing idea they come up with. And then NIL comes along… Please give so that more may take.
