Lets go Coach, it will only get easier. This guy may already be my favorite Aztec football coach all-time and he has not even coached a real game yet. He just seems to understand what college sports SHOULD be.

I learned to do it so I'm sure he can as well. La Jolla Shores amongst other places. Summer of 1967.

The dog days of summer, not many sports activities, might as well talk about surf lessons videos from Facebook.

Mission Beach San Rafael court, 1971 self taught no one around and didn't know how to swim* (stupid little kid) but was comfortable in the water? (surfed for 40 plus years) * Didn't like the backyard swim instructor, so I just stopped going never told my folks.

But, I'm more excited about the coach Lewis hire than any other coach since.

I do recognize the challenges that presents at getting a highly ranked QB. But Darnell and Rashad were fun to watch. For the fans that require a passing game to appreciate the game, rocky is not the coach you should seek. Go aztecs

Go aztecs Just like Coach Fisher made me appreciate a strong defensive team in basketball, Rocky made me appreciate a great running game. I loved the great running offenses of the early Coryell years, but nothing was more exciting than the pass happy Aztecs. Rocky's tough defense reminds me of the great defensive teams we had under Coryell as well.

I'm just appreciative of the fact Mr. Mathews didn't take Coach Lewis to Black's Beach for his surf lessons. I'm sure the coach is too.

Most people that have put in some time at Blacks have some great memories along with a few nightmares, that place is the real deal during a big swell.

Having to pinch my pennies I drove down to a surfboard factory in Tijuana to buy my board. Still remember when Mitch started his Pop-out boards back in the late 80's down in TJ/Rosarito area. Rumor was he was paying local shapes to just pop-out as many boards as possible and then getting them glassed in Mexico for CHEAP. The boards varied from rail to rail, board to board quality wise but they were "Cheaper" for a reason! I remember when his shop was really small. The whole shop was the size of a small bedroom with a closet behind the front desk for supplies only he went/reached into and a back door (always locked) for his supply of foam blanks, resin and cloth (fiberglass) in back. Mitch was a LEGEND back in the day, cool guy. The famous line "Heey, I'll give yah a deal"

Compared to Long or Hoke, this guy knows how to market the city and program. If he can coach half as good as he promotes, we are in very good shape.

Neither Hoke nor Long were much when it came to promotion or trying to fire up the fans. Players still must have sufficient skill sets to win games. That's been an ongoing issue at several key positions over the past umpteen seasons. Coaching can help get the most out of what a player's skill set provides, but if the skill sets are weak to begin with, it won't matter what a coaching staff does - on or off the field. Marketing shouldn't have to be a head coach's job, but in the low-budget league the Aztecs are stuck with, it has to be done by someone. How well has SDSU marketed this program, ever?
