for the good for him, his family and friends, I hope he recovers quickly. He's not coming back to coach Tedford resigned after the 2019 season for health reasons On December 8, 2021, Tedford was rehired by Fresno State to return as HC for the 2022 season. Then, on December 1, 2023, Tedford stepped away once more for health reasons, he came back and today on July 15, 2024 Tedford announced he would step down as head coach due to health concerns (which is a heart issue.) Tim Skipper, Fresno State's linebackers coach (AHC), will serve as the team's interim head coach for 2024

I doubt he'd come back from yet another issue

He is a helluva coach and this hurts Fresno at a time they want to be at their best. I'll pray for him and his family for him to have good health and enjoy a retirement well earned.

Looks very much like Tedford's run as a football coach is over. He is only 63 years old, which seems pretty young to me. (I had just entered Fullerton Junior College as a freshman when he was born! ) But age per se does not mean that much. His repeated health problems are what counts.
Hope he has a long and enjoyable retirement.

His health comes first! He is an excellent coach and maybe he can stay active as a consultant for some school.

When I saw him along the sidlines last year he did not look good at all. He had gained a lot of weight with a big stomach and just looked very unhealthy. I felt it would be his last season.

Some 63-year-olds look great. Others look a lot older. After spending the entire off season preparing for 2024, he gets all the way to the doorstep of training camp and then quits. Whatever his doctor told him had to be pretty bad. He has been a terrific coach and a real asset to the MWC. As much as I dislike Fresno, I've always respected Tedford.

It had to be something pretty serious for a decision like that at this point.
