Wow I had no idea.
Anyone who has spent time among SDSU influencers came across Fred Pierce. Very few contributed more time, money, intelligence, and vision to SDSU than Fred.
I first met Fred around 1995 when he was on the Board of the Aztec Athletic Foundation and was heavily involved in redeveloping Linda Paseo into what you see today. Welcoming and friendly to everyone. I last ran into him at the Eagles concert last year. I didn't know him well, but he stopped and said hi and remembered me after all those years. He must have been only about 60 years old. What a loss. Life is short.

I met Fred when he and his wine came wine tasting at Sonoma-Cutrer. Once I found out we both were from San Diego and loved the Aztecs we had a great time. He was very humble and friendly. Only later did I realize the impact and commitment he had to our athletic program and University and all he had done. It is a sad day for SDSU and San Diego. Save travels Fred.

We went to rival High Schools in the San Fernando Valley, and different fraternities at SDSU, but are the same age, and aways supported the red & black. I remember Fred, and hope he rests peacefully. #Aztec4Life
