I really want to see more usage of the TE position under Lewis. SDSU has put a few into the pros over the years and a good TE is the QB's best friend.

It seems to me that we have underutilized the TE position for years. I hope that changes. Looks like it will.

A good TE doesn't have to stretch the field, just be a quick option that moves the chains. Given Lewis was an athletic TE, he will lkely do more than that with the position. But this year, with little experience at QB, the TE will be very important to give the QB a quick play to bail out of trouble.

Yes, Brady had Gronk, Rivers, Gates, Fouts, Winslow, Sievers and Hollohan (best hands on the team). Traditional TEs are matched up against a LB and Winslow types might rate a safety. But, they generally catch passes in front of the defenders and have a big body that makes it hard to defend. I'm actually excited to see Lewis' offense though I am keeping my expectations in check.

Seeing Harrison on TV a couple of times last year he could be a real weapon .

A TE who can both block and catch the ball is an OC’s best friend because of the versatility and ability to create mismatches with the defense. In-line you add and extra gap to defend. Flexed out you add a fourth or fifth receiver in most cases against a LB which is usually a mismatch.

The last former HS WR who got converted to TE on the Mesa did really well...Gavin Escobar

unfortunately if the OL is not doing its job the team has to primarily use the TE for primarily blocking purposes rather then be a receiver - hopefully the OL is improved and the TE gets to do some receiving
as for Harrison being a late addition could he have been taking classes this summer to officially be a grad student ?
