They're saying BJ Davis is now on the U.T.G. team. He hadn't previously been on any rosters. It would have been nice to have a teammate or two on the team to help work on timing and tendencies.

Glad to see him in uniform this week. Agree. I was a bit concerned when everyone wasn't playing somewhere. Then I heard about the kids in the Drew League and now BJ is at SWISH. Haven't heard anything about Boyd yet. He's from a small town about 40 miles up the Hudson from NYC so maybe he's home. I re-visited his highlight tape and he goes and gets to the rim a lot. He shot 40% from 3 his first two years but then dropped to 34.1% last year. In 22-23 when FAU went to Final Four he shot 40% on almost five 3s a game but only shot 62.2% from the FT line. Then in 23-24, he dropped to 34.1% from 3 but improved his FT% dramatically to 84.2%. He only started 14 games last year because of an upper-leg injury which no doubt affected his shooting. He's always been a gym rat, which mirrors most of the Aztecs. And his uncle, who was the head BB coach at Rutgers and an assistant at Northwestern and Seton Hall, says he has "an incredible basketball IQ". I think we're going to be a lot stronger overall at the Guard position than we were last year.

Damn, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out, Lamont and Darrion.

You're right, I should have said that "I think there's a chance we could be stronger at the Guard position than we were last year." Neither LB or DT shot very well from 3-point and Butler's FT % was downright bad for a Guard. Butler's defense is always good but DT got scored on pretty easily. McKinney had the same number of steals as DT in the same number of minutes. McK shot better than him from 3 and overall. DT did have a better FT%, 81.8% to 74.4%. And McKinney is at least 2-4 inches taller and 15 lbs heavier. Boyd has a history of better 3-pt shooting but of course isn't as good of a defender as LB. If Dutch also puts Waters, Byrd and Taj at G, I think that overall, we'll be better in the backcourt. And that's without even taking BJ into account.

This is why I'm really anxious to see how Badrtalei uses his new backcourt talent. Will they collectvely attack the basket? If I recall there were times when Butler did it successfully, but it was rare.

LeDee getting double-teamed down low clogged up the paint and made it more difficult for smaller guys to get to the rim.

I think that's when the 3/4 positions have to block out instead of staying out in the perimter. IMO Pal was too skinny and got pushed around, we know Saunders stayed outside way too much. Let's see how they use Compton who's just as beefy. The guards should have more open mid-range jumpers. So even when they miss we should have more rebounders near the basket. Shooting too many missed long range shots result in long rebounds and those can be killers. All I'm saying is since we no longer have LeDee we'll need a different style of play.

I agree but I bet J-C-J is coming in anticipating getting some LeDee-Love as a higher-level scorer.

closest player to be considered a returning starter is Waters
There are few returning players who were part of the rotation but not starters
There are at the present time 3 scholarship transfers and 4 freshmen ( one a red shirt )
So until the coaches have all the guys together and see who can do what - it seems likely that the offense will be determined by what the players can and can not do as individuals and as a unit
while the transfers may have had some good talents at their previous schools - none are from P6 schools so it will be a learning curve

Really appreciate what you guys are trying to do but I quit watching it because the audio was so bad. Not sure what the problem was but it just consistently kept cutting out.

Thanks for checking it out. The audio definitely was improved from last week. This is our first go at live broadcasting a sporting event—So it is a big undertaking. From internet networks, to audio mixers, camera's, broadcasting software, there are a lot of moving parts coming together. Each week as we refine our systems and address our equipment needs, it will perform better.
