My biggest concern is with the defense. I am definitely seeing improvement on the offense side of the ball, but I fear it is at the expense of the defense. People gave Stan crap about the lines, but in my opinion, he is spot on especially with the defensive line. If my concern with the defense is correct, an 8th place finish is about right.

Another thing to add-on here is if the new system is "Aztec Fast" meaning up-tempo, they could really be putting a strain on quickly putting the D back on the field over and over again. Not looking to be Debbie-Downer but the lack of Size and or Experience up front is a real concern this coming year.

With NIL/transfer roster-poaching, no one has any idea how the MW teams will perform this season. The lines look shaky this season for sure but our opponents might have similar problems.

The lines do seem shaky. It feels like they are just back filling with bodies but this is a honeymoon year. It’s really hard to recruit when it’s their first season on the job. I am really excited to see how they recruit from here on out.

Why would any preseason mag think this team is going to contend? New coach, new QB’s, iffy O line, undersized D line. There is some skill returning at RB, DB and a couple of decent linebackers.
Still, we don’t really know about Coach Lewis, maybe he is a miracle worker.

I am really excited to see how they recruit from here on out. With NIL it's going to be difficult to build a team and maintain stability. Our only hope is signing the diamonds in the rough. Even at that they'll likely go into the transfer portal if they make the all-MWC team. Like in baseball, we're the minor leagues for the majors.

SDSU has a total revamp of players and coaches - all learning - and the keys for all teams are the OL and DL
Look at the top 6 teams in the MW from last year - do they have as good if not better then last year - with returning coaches and players - if so then they are going to be better - unless they lost key players
as mentioned SDSU has a new defense that has to learn its own scheme then every week learn about its opponents so a whole lot to master

I know basketball is totally different but you never know...wasn't Utah State picked to finish 8th and won The MWC this past season ? We could finish in the bottom in football this year or in the top 3. If we see flashes of greatness and consistent improvement it will be a good year regardless of where we finish.

I wonder where Phil Steele would have ranked Coryell's first team. Just a ridiculous thought.

Sign local recruits whose families can attend Snap Dragon and aren't desperate for money. Join their HS teammates who sign here and know their local opponents who sign here. If they're as good as advertised, they know the pros will find them. Let's not forget that the best thing we have going for us is the inland empire being in our backyard. After hearing Lewis speak he sounds like an excellent recruiter.

The team was garbage last year. It will take Lewis at least year to revamp.

So charitable of them to provide bulletin board material for our team.

Absolutely nobody disputed Stan's opinion on the importance of OL/DL. What he was given "crap about" was his throwing it into EVERY SINGLE thread about the football team. We got it the first 75 times Stan. Also, there's nothing revolutionary about that proclamation. It's been universally acknowledged for decades. We don't need it drilled into us. I see he threw it in there again.

Nostradamus McQuervo predicts Phil Steel's publication to land at 2nd worst in 2024 in predictions. (His avalanche south continues)
Only ahead of Lindy's and Street & Smiths.
