I can't possibly presume to know what was going through Rory's phyche prior to those putts.... He has won 4 majors and made countless important shots to win throughout his career... Underperformed......YES! Choke.... I don't see it that way....

I hate to say a player as good and as experienced as Rory choked but he kind of did. Maybe he misreads the first short one but the second one was more likely from nerves given the distance and importance.
In 2011 he went into Sunday's final round at the Masters with a four-shot lead. He shot 80 and finished 15th, 10 shots behind. THAT was definitely a choke but you have to be really good to put yourself in position to qualify as a choke.
He is.

With Rory's second place finish, he surpassed Xander as #2 in golf's world rankings. Rory had four major wins by age 25 but hasn't won another in over 10 years (since 2014). There are a lot of solid players on the PGA Tour and you never know who is going to show up that week. It's pretty crazy how well Scheffler has played.

Disappointing 3rd round today... out of title contention... but still T12 at +1. I'm guessing a 68 tomorrow from Xander to finish anywhere from 6-10th. Strangely, I'm rooting for Rory to win at this point! Well, you were right on the mark; X shot 68. Ho hum, another top 10 finish and loose change around $600 k. Now it’s on to “The Open” and another chance to prove he is among the world’s best.

And he is in position to defend his gold medal at the Olympics next month (the 15 top ranked players in the world are eligible with a maximum of 4 players per country).

We've all missed putts that short or shorter but none of us probably ever made 496 in a row that length before missing. That's what he did. No one has mentioned what an emotionally hectic week this had to have been with his marriage reconciliation and all the questions and comments about that layered on top of all this.

But, that is where Rory has struggled the most, with his putting. Scheffler as well, his numbers outside of putting have been Tiger-like this year.

Granted, great iron play enhances the stats... but Scottie leads the tour in putting this year.

As much as I dislike LIV shouldn't DeChambeau deserve to represent the USA? Just because Morikawa and Clark are near the top in earnings doesn't reflect their performances of late.

Morikawa has been placing great golf lately….7 of 7 in T20 & 6 of 7 in T10 finishes in the past 8 weeks…can’t say the same about Clark though… Sorry…but DeChambeau should be playing for the Saudi national team…

This isn't the Ryder Cup, the Olympics have a pretty straightforward qualification process based on world rankings. USA just picked their top ranked four players, Patrick Cantlay would have been next in line before DeChambeau. www.espn.com/golf/rankings

The LIV is a joke and their members will have to deal with it.
