Really? They couldn’t tackle to save their lives. McDonald couldn’t shed a block and dove at ankles. Ratcliff would get torched in coverage and took bad angles. Fiaseu is way too small to be playing in the box Fountain was way too small to be playing DE. Dez Malone was the biggest loss on D. Fiaseu was the team's second best tackler behind Josh Hunter. Fely was his size lbs and hugely impactful. Fountain was the biggest disappointment last season. Dude played on skates vs the run. Technique was his biggest issue with his size dude needs to be a technician or explosive and that's why it looked like he played on skates since he wasn't explosive Fiaseau would be better as a SS than a linebacker. His lack of size was spotlighted last year since the DL was bad most of the season. OG’s just overwhelmed him in the box and a lot of his tackles were down field. Not sure where he is on the two deep for ASU, but if you have a good DL he could be effective. He needs space to operate.

It's going to take time to rebuild. I have a hard time seeing them exceed last year's record. I think it's likely we beat last year's record. I'm sure we will be watching a more entertaining style of offense. Definitely agree about a more entertaining style of offense. Just trying to be grounded on expectations with so much turnover.

I feel pretty good that we'll have more than 4 wins but I wouldn't put money on it.

But I don't have anything to actually base that on other than my deep love of the Aztecs.

It will come down to the lines, SDSU (like many teams) has plenty of talent in the skilled positions, especially RB.
Quarterback will also be crucial, the Aztecs need a gamer who is cool in the clutch.

As usual, it's all hype until they KO. However there's one meaningful factor, this is the highest paid SDSU football coaching staff in history.

The Dline was a serious issue last year and the defense still did a pretty good job (most the time) overcoming a big size difference upfront. All this is now water under the bridge and next man up!

He was very tough, if McDonald had half his fight he would have shed a block now and then.

Believe they came out with the All MW teams - and NO Aztec was on the First team for either offense or defense - while some did make the second , third or fourth teams

I think this coaching staff will emphasize the team's strengths and hide their weaknesses as much as they can. Hoke's staff probably coached by just going through the motions regardless of lack of talent and the results showed. Just my take.

Looking back on the last 2 years of Hoke's coaching career at SDSU were soo bad that he should have to give back at least half his paycheck for those years because he DID NOTHING in improving the offense (did he even watch any practices?)

I will be elated if we can make a Bowl game. Any Bowl game is fine.
