FOX announced their Friday OTA broadcasts. x.com/RossDellenger/status/1793364839995416988The consolidation of the PAC into the B12, B10, and ACC has added to the available inventory for those networks. Games that were buried on the P12 network now will be on those properties. Hence the new FOX Friday National Broadcast. As part of that news, they moved the MWC game off of Saturday and onto Friday. Fox didn't pick up one MW game for their regular season Friday schedule. You could delude yourself into thinking that this will make room for MW content on Saturday nights, but keep in mind the PAC 12 network broadcasted 35 games last year. The MW will be the only game on OTA that Friday, but it is also the time slot on ABC that Pac12 Fans hated from a convenience standpoint and PAC 12 AD's hated because of the lack of visibility. This is but the beginning. We need to hope the CW is successful this upcoming season. I have to ask, did Fox already have the right to move the game off Saturday or did the MW roll over and show their bellies?

Even if Fox didn't have the right to move the game, I doubt Fox gives a crap what the MW thinks about moving the games. The MW accepts it, or Fox buries the MW in a legal battle. Even if the MW wins the damages will be a fraction of what Fox will make broadcasting a Power conference game.

No one wants legal entanglements, but I think the MW most likely rolled over. Rolled over and did the seal-clap I wonder if the MW has done the math yet on the number of available tv windows available on ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, FOX, FS1, and CBS and then done the math on the amount of games that FOX, CBS, and ESPN own collectively control from the Big, SEC, ACC, and B12. Because the numbers suggest that the MW will be bringing their supply to market at a time where the Nets have already filled their demand needs. The only wildcard is the CW. That speaks volumes to the situation facing the MW.

And we need out of it. The PAC2 should take no more than 6 MWC teams, pay $50-60M for that and create a smaller conference that has higher end brands. I certainly don't want to be in a 14 school conference with all MWC teams and OSU/Wazzu. We will end up playing a 20-22 game conference BB schedule if that happens. I hold out hope that the B12 takes notice of our AD revenue and decides becoming a true coast-to-coast conference and brings us in with either OSU or UNLV.

The same problem facing the MW is facing the P2. Hence the deal with the CW. Without a media deal that pays out incremental to the current deal, what's the point?

On reason is to get away from the bottom of the MWC.

Wonder if they need the late night content and want to get into college sports other than football

If there is a Market for Friday Night games and Saturday night games the better P4 conferences will or already have plans to televise games
The P4 are in the business to make money and will do what they think is PROFITABLE for them
think they have already let the schools that have jumped from the PAC to expect to be on Friday or Saturday nights

People are delusional if they think that the networks give 2¢ about G5 football…
The Aztecs are going no where because there is no where to go (even if there is a new PAC)…
We should just be happy that we still have a football team (be it a quasi D-2 conference) and consider it to be local entertainment for the San Diego football fans.
No one, outside of San Diego (and some Aztec alumni living outside of San Diego) cares one iota about SDSU football (or the MWC for that matter)…
Whine all we want about the state of college football…but that’s the stark reality…we did all the right things (building a new stadium, have the highest revenues among all G5 schools, become an academic powerhouse, etc)…in the end it just didn’t matter.
We’ll continue to field a football team…but visions ever sitting at the big-boy table are all but forgotten…

yes we were f****d over, and if we had any political weight we would have sued long ago when it became evident that the networks and certain schools were keeping us out.

Plus, that big boy table is shrinking and eventually only includes the sec and B1G, with some additional ACC add ons

I guess the bright side is we aren’t locked in to paying huge amounts of profit sharing to compete with the SEC like the former pac schools in the big 12

The Lobos are giving it one last try with their new Football HC to make sure some some think they are a wanted school for the revamped PAC - looks as though most of their extra money is going into their basketball program
Do hope that the PAC can reorganize into a least a step or two up over the MW

But nobody really knows what is going to happen the next 5-10 years. Delusional or not, I'm still holding onto a smidgen of hope.
