I'm already watching the Cal-S. Illinois game from extremely humid LSU. Can be glad we weren't shipped to that regional. Pitchers can't get a grip on the ball.

Anyway... Back here in So Cal... Really interested to see how this shakes out over the weekend in Westwood. You'd figure UCLA would be hell-bent not to repeat their performance of last year. On the other hand, it was clear that the Aztecs raised their game last weekend in Boise to secure the MWC title sweeps. They were dominant. Bring that swagger and calm demeanor to where the sun comes up over Santa Monica Blvd, and good things can happen. btw, for those like me who cut off cable after March Madness til football season, today's game according to their listings is on ESPN+ -- which I still consider one of the hidden steals in all of sports TV (though for how much longer in these times of shifting media/college sports sands, I can't say).

This game's a slow bleed thus far. 1+2+1 = 4 trying to get through the fifth. And nothing happening with the bats, and VaTech making each successive inning look easier. They even look a little shaky handling the ball D-wise here and there. To add injury to insult, Brocki just took a shot from a baserunner on a play at 2nd.

Gotta hope for a dramatic reversal with 6 outs to work with.

Gotta flush this and find their swagger for tomorrow, because they looked tight and overmatched. Also gotta hope both Brocki and now Barbara are OK. Mac really took one to the chops. Immediately pointed out to my 10U "THAT... is why we make you guys wear masks".

We were the road team in this game so looks like we were the 3 seed.
