SDSU wins 3-2.
Aztecs finish 13-14 at home this season, while they are 3-21 on the road, with 3 games remaining.
And while many b*tch about how bad the team is, I am sure the players are the ones most peesed off about it.

Everyone associated with the program should be rip $#!+ mad. This was year one, so this new stiff gets a pass from me for this season, but they need to get it sorted on the bump and in the field.

SDSU is in the heart of the best HS baseball region in the USA. No excuses, this program should be successful.

SDSU is in the heart of the best HS baseball region in the USA. No excuses, this program should be successful. Especially since UCI, CS Fullerton & Long Beach State usually field good teams

SDSU is in the heart of the best HS baseball region in the USA. No excuses, this program should be successful. It's almost like you'd have to try to be mediocre for this long sitting in SoCal, one of the most fertile baseball recruiting grounds in the country. It's inexplicable to be this bad year after year after ... When much lesser schools like Fullerton & LBSU are better EVERY season... you've had the wrong people leading the program and the administration just doesn't really care.

It all started with Tony Gwynn. He lobbied hard for the position when Dietz was retiring. He had zero coaching experience but coached for 12 years and his overall record was exactly .500 (363-363) And the only reason it was that good was that in his final season they were 42-21 because of Stephan Strasburg. They only finished over .500 four times in those 12 years.
He was one of the greatest players in MLB history but that doesn't mean he could coach or recruit. But he was such an SDSU icon i think they were afraid to fire him. Contrast that with Dietz's record over 30 years at SDSU, 1230-751 (.621)
Great player, great guy, but not so great coach.

Seems I remember TG changing who we recruited? He went after and signed kids that were definitely going to be drafted, and then they were. Not sure he ever adapted?

I'm not sure why we never pursued Rich Hill. He's had winning records at USD and Hawaii, and he played for the Aztecs in the early 80's.
