Looking at the top 80 portal players and where they are going, there are still a bunch that have not found a home. Is there a provision that when a player enters the portal that their scholarship gets revoked, and what happens to the players that get stuck in the portal with no takers?

every coach decides how they want to handle a player that enters the Portal and how many of the 13 scholarships they want to use
Would guess that the Lobos are keeping a scholarship open for their highly regarded Center that is in the Portal - so if he decides he wants to come back he has a scholarship
Dutcher may do it one way while another coach does it their way
Do remember that CSU had kept a scholarship open for their Center think it was Roddy who made a late decision to go to the NBA and by that time they were not able to get a quality replacement
Think the top players in the Portal find a scholarship - coaches have pulled scholarships on players to give to a valuable top player
In the end the top players get a scholarship of some kind it is the border line players that have to scramble

So sad, to bad.
These kids want all the advantages without realizing the pitfalls. Sadly, most won't get a chance to earn a degree.
Third string guys who leave for PT, especially FB, rarely find it.

As it is with Football teams the good ones work at getting better - same for the players the better ones usually find spots those who are not that good will have to try to find a spot at some level or even try to walk on or realize football may not be in their future

A rather high stakes game of musical chairs.

Others nationwide not so much.

I believe over 40% of the kids who entered the portal last year didn’t find a home. Not sure what percentage of those were actually scholarship kids with multiple years left but you roll the dice whe you enter.

I wonder how many were told to enter the portal by the coach because their scholarship was about to be pulled? Cuts both ways.

Now, they may have to get a job (GASP) to pay for the education. The world MUST be ending, but they've at least been blessed with a good lesson in the "real" world.
