May NIL 1 or May 01 - the last day players can enter the Basketball Portal - as it happens the last day for even Grad Students( with the new rule change) to Enter the Portal
Hope there are no last minute surprise for SDSU as the clock approaches midnight

I feel something is going on internally that we don't know about. Dutcher has been very quite the last two weeks and hasn't hire an assistant coach. I hope Im wrong but man even walk ons are starting to transfer.

I would guess that Dutcher prefers to keep his true thoughts to himself about all that is going on and continue to chat with his current players and those coming in rather then those departing
As mentioned he still has to be out there recruiting - hiring an Assistant and assisting in the OOC
so quite a bit on his plate and he knows the less said the better - do not think he wants to start bad mouthing players especially when you are trying to add some

Keshad from the jump was transparent he needed more NIL or he'd leave and I think entered the portal fairly early in the cycle. Lamont/Saunders waited days before portal closing to enter, there's probably not a lot of positive thoughts at the moment and a lot to have to figure out quickly. Getting on air and faking an interview or expressing your frustrations might send the wrong message right now. Hiring an assistant might be on the back burner while they get a handle on the portal and OOC scheduling, Ziegler said yesterday expect updates over the next couple weeks on that. As much as we love our walk-ons they're a dime a dozen. Really can't blame a kid wanting to find somewhere where he can for sure play and possibly earn a scholarship (low level D1, D2, NAIA). |

I know garbage time isn't always a good or accurate indicator of your abilities but in 20 minutes last year he was 0-6 FGs including 0-4 from 3 and had three TOs. I thought Cam Lewin was someone who was much more likely to move up the ladder like Cade did. |

I thought Cam Lewin was someone who was much more likely to move up the ladder like Cade did. I don't think garbage time can really hurt you, expectations are to the point you're just there to run the clock out. Showing flashes in garbage time can help though. Cade seemed like a great person and teammate, he also had height on his side which makes him very valuable when it comes to practice and running scout team. 6'-6'4 are fighting an upward battle for PT unless they get really good at something. |

Not sure exactly what you think is going on, but remember, Dutch just was awarded a nice 5 year extension with a nice raise, making him the highest paid CSU employee. Yes, there is a lot going on in this new effed up NIL/transfer portal world. Even at that, we have two very nice transfers coming in ourselves. This is the new musical chairs/shell game that is college sports. Settle in. |

According to Ziegler, he expects the staff to be filled out in the next week or so - don't think anything is going on there.
The reality is we are a NIL challenged school and are going to be the "minor leagues" for big programs going forward unless something radical changes. And that sucks the enjoyment out of what has been slowly building. We may have peaked as a program, sadly.
