How this specific program (Baseball) continues to underperform year in year you is a mystery to me.
Talent is grown here in CA, is the program not getting its share?

It’s one where SDSU actually has an institutional advantage since scholarships are often fractionalized. In state tuition at SDSU is cheap compared to private schools or those whose athletes are coming from out of state. The conference is terrible, but Fresno State won a baseball title out of the WAC, so I don’t see that as a meaningful excuse. Long story short, SDSU baseball is an absolute travesty. |

The portal doesn't effect baseball as they don't give full scholies. The baseball program is bad because we keep on giving it to the Head Coach in waiting since Jim Dietz retired. So we keep on giving it to the next bad head coach.

When was the last time the baseball team was good? The Strasburg era? Even in the Strausberg era the team was not very good. In 2008, when Strausberg was first an All American, SDSU finished third in conference and missed the NCAAs. In 2009, when Strausberg repeated as an AA, SDSU finished fourth in conference (but fortunately won the conference tournament played at Tony Gwynn Field.) Since 1990 (thirty-four years ago!), SDSU has made the NCAAs just seven times. Since 1990, SDSU has not advanced out of the NCAA Regionals. Since 1990, SDSU's NCAA's Tournament record is 3-14. Since 1990, SDSU has not won more than one game in an NCAA Tournament, while going 0-2 four times. 2018 was the last time SDSU made the NCAAs, where the Aztecs were eliminated by Northwestern State. Quick without looking on Google: where is Northwestern State located, and what conference is it in? |

So we keep on giving it to the next bad head coach. College baseball players have a 3 year restriction from signing with the pros. So does that also mean they only get a 3 year scholarship? That has nothing to do with transferring in any one year of the window. Regardless, something is critically wrong with this program. Are the players that bad and/or is it the staff? |

We promoted our pitching coach to manager and pitching is by far the weakest link this year - go figure.
