Baseball weekend vs New Mexico

Aztecs are swept again, 4-8, 5-19, 7-9. Again, they had a chance to scratch out a win on Sunday. Aztecs were up 7-5 after 8 but gave up a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 9th.

Same old story, walks, hit batters, errors. Aztecs are 11-32, 5-16 in the MWC and haven't shown improvement on the field, especially on the mound.

Mid-week game tonight vs CSUN, 11 games left in this very disapointing season.

I would be thrilled to see the Aztecs consistently put a NCAA tournament level team on the diamond, but after all these years, I know what to expect. Occasional team that qualifies from the MWC, nice venue at TG stadium to enjoy a game, a few guys who get drafted.

The program will never fully turn the corner until the AD, school, student body and alums demand it, and invest the time, resources and commit to a long term strategy. It's a non-revenue sport. I have no illusions; I post about baseball to remind folks we have a program.
