Again, Dave V was Not the Offensive specialist Coach, it was Acker. Dave V has been the Defensive Coach for countless years. It has been Acker who was running the Offense. If you ever had the opportunity to watch the team in a shoot around before the crowd came in for the home games, Acker was the only coach out there with the shooters. I saw way too many three pointers always shot, but that’s the game now days except for a few schools. Ive watched the team since 1999. I have no hate against him. Ive attended all the youth camps hosted by SDSU. All I will say is he is a good talker that needs to expand on his craft. He could someday be a great coach but it isnt now. In fact he is not the best assistant coach in the building. That honor would goes to Gregg Gotlieb. As to Acker being the offensive guy that not true. He was Boise defensive guy before coming to SDSU and just added two offensive guru to his Long Beach Staff. Now if you said Coach Acker was a go getter and showed up early to work with the player then that something else. This job at SDSU is no longer a small time program. We hire the best available coach with prior HC experience. If you looking for guys with HC experience with SDSU ties it will be: Marvin Menzies, Justin Hudson, and Acker. All three have previously coached HS and can bring in guys to develop. Budget Friendly Assistant with SDSU ties: Tim Shelton, Dave V, Tyrone Shelly (JC HC) and Aerick Saunders. I personally would take Tim Shelton as he has been at 4 different programs and keeps on growing his craft. He is the most well arounded coach from all 3. So every time someone brings up the HCIW BS lets just pump the brakes. Also Ive never heard Dave V say he want to be a Head Coach. Some coaches prefer just being lifetime assistant. My point from here on out, is getting the best available coaches and having the best players come in even if they are from another program. I've watched the team since 1981. Straight from Boise State's Basketball site: "Acker also helped the Blue and Orange excel from behind the arc, as the team’s 307 made 3-pointers in 2017-18 set a single-season program record." He may have helped on the Defensive side also, but that is not his responsibilities when he came to SDSU. Straight from the SDSU'S Basketball site: "Chris ACKER begins his fifth season at San Diego State as an assistant coach after joining the program on June 2, 2019. In 2022-23, Acker guided one of the program’s most balanced offensive attacks." ***** "His main responsibilities to the program include recruiting, and player development with an emphasis on the team’s offense." ***** "Focusing on the offensive side of the ball, he plays a critical role in the success of the program." Dave VELASQUEZ: Enters his 22nd season at San Diego State and 11th as an assistant coach. *** "With an emphasis on the defensive side of the ball, he’s played a critical role in the team finishing the past four seasons ranked No. 1 in the MW in scoring defense, allowing five fewer points per game than any other team in the league since the start of the 2019-20 campaign. In addition, overall, his defenses have ranked No. 2 and No. 4 nationally in each of the last two seasons, respectively, and have ranked in the top-10 in three of the last four, according to KenPom.com" *** ACKER was on the floor for team pre game shoot arounds because he was the Offensive Coach, NOT VELASQUEZ.

Instead of "Can he play the 5" our motto should be "Can we coach offense." If you guys want to believe a beat writer that only tell 80 percent truth go ahead and treated like its 100% truth. The reality is we will continue to struggle to score the ball next year. Mark it when we go to the NIL tournament and we go on a 8 to 10 minute drought.

We were in the 82nd percentile in offensive efficiency last year. We were nowhere close to being as bad as you make it sound. Nearly every team in the country goes thru scoring droughts. The good thing is when we go on droughts we still make stops. Teams don't go on big runs against us. We ranked 12th in the country when it came to allowing the fewest 10+ pt scoring runs against us. BTW, we ranked 43rd in the country when it came to our O going on 10+ pt scoring runs.
