Hello All (once again), Thank you to all that reached out and donated silent auction and raffle items, it's so nice to have so many dedicated fans. Aztec Link and San Diego State appreciate you!!! I wanted to let you know that we have launched our silent auction site and you all are welcome to log in and bid on any items. BIDDING IS LIVE AS WE SPEAK!!! Does Coach know how to surf? Would be even cooler if he didn't surf and was just up for a cool experience to learn how with an Aztec fan while raising funds for the program. I have to be honest here this new coaching staff really seems like a breath of fresh air for this program, I am liking Coach Lewis and his staff more and more every day. Go Aztecs!

I was thinking the same thing...if he does know how to surf: cool. If he doesn't, then you get to say you taught the coach how to surf! Happy bidding y'all! And for those that listen to 760 am, I will be in studio tomorrow at 5pm promoting Aztec Link and the upcoming weekend, especially the silent auction.

Thanks, Bill, for keeping us informed. I have to ask, what is the general consensus for ex-players like yourself (and I believe your dad?) on the whole NIL/ease of transfer rules environment these days? Obviously, you yourself must not be bitter about it, as you are heavily involved in fundraising for a program you obviously care about. But have you run into any ex-athletes that have indeed strongly voiced their opinions against it? I'm sure they're out there. I definitely don't care for what it's become, but we of course need to be involved in it while it exists or we can say goodbye to staying competitive.

General consensus among ex-players is we're happy that these kids get to make some money. Pretty wild that back in my day if a coach or a booster bought me a cheeseburger I would lose my eligibility...but now kids are getting straight up paid to play! With that said, in college football, very few guys are making BIG money...the truth is...it is much more of a thousand here and a thousand there...truly the kind of thing we'd all want to see for our child and not a million bucks from the Chevrolet dealership. Transfer portal is a whole different thing amongst ex-players. The thought that my brother next to me in the wide receiver room could just bail on all of us next year is really crappy. The brotherhood that exists in the lockerroom is sacred and it's based on the blood, sweat and tears we all put in throughout the years to accomplish a singular goal of winning ball games. If one of my best buddies took off, it would feel like a betrayal. But, I'm sure this group of athletes is far more used to it and accepts it. But there's no way the togetherness and brotherhood is the same.

I have always preferred college (and high school) sports because the players were playing for their school and team mates. College basketball and football are losing that now days. I'm afraid the ease of transferring and NIL are going to kill interest in college sports.

I think that's something that most people on the outside don't even consider as an additional negative for all this. Thanks for all you've done over the years to support the program.
