No. The next HC will be interviewing for the job with others and if he is the best then he gets it. We have done poorly in hiring with in. Look at the baseball program. Only softball and basketball panned out.

Yes.
By the time Dutch retires, DV will have TOTALLY earned the opportunity to take over the program.
I'd pay $$$ to buy a "HCIW paver" for Dave.

We haven't won a national championship. Typical San Diego mentality. Dave could be the next Rick Patino but until he can prove to me he can fix the offense, I will look down on him. I don't want to hear how great of a defense of guru he is because that not true. The team became a better defensive team as soon as Justin Hudson walked in to the building. They use the same terminology he used at Bakersfield High School and Cal poly SLO. Almost the same stuff Pat Douglass implemented in the early 90's to win two national championships (D2) at Cal State Bakersfield. They added some stuff over the years but Dave was not the mastermind. Hudson failure will be the same failure David V will have which is no offense. You still need to put the orange ball into the orange cylinder. Called it when Hudson got hired at FSU which was he needed to surround himself with offense of minded coach. Going more than 4 minutes droughts aint going to win you championship, it was proven at the MTN west championship and Uconn exposed us twice. Ive gone to those SDSU basketball camps and have seen David V work those camps. He needs alot of seasoning. Maybe Dutcher will give him more responsibility offensively and can prove me wrong. But he needs to put in work away from SDSU. Maybe find a gig during the summer at an NBA summer league camp or even coach an international team during the olympics for another country. All he knows at this time is what Dutcher teaches. That work now but it isn't going to work 10 years from now. I think last year having Sam Schoal really helped us offensively but you can only do so much in less than 9 months. Long term someone like David V needs to take over the offensive reign the next couple of years if he wants the job. JMO

I have no idea who should be the next coach but only satisfied if national titles are won? By San Diego State teams in the era of NIL? Absurd.

But people around here are giving the keys to the Honda without earning it because they are still on cloud 9 from 2 years ago. IMO when Dutcher retires there needs to be national search for our next HC. If Dave wants the job he needs to put in the work, earn it, and interview for it. This job is not a stepping stone job any longer. Dutcher was a different deal because he was here from Day 1. The hommie hook up can only go on for so long. Because if hommie hook ups was the name of the game, Myron Epps and Jeff Berokoff would be at the top of the list since both are high school coaches and they were here Day 1. Both have coached longer and have more HC experiance than Dave. So we just need to stop the Coach in waiting made up news.

Since Hutson left we've been turning out top 10 defenses year after year...and that's because of Dave. Defense is our culture...Dave is the culture. This school absolutely needs to make sure we keep him around and give him the title he deserves: "Head Coach in Waiting." Yes, we all wish we could score with more consistency, but it's about winning with consistency, which this program has done and Dave is a major part of that.
