Matt Mitchell Takes a Nasty Header

Yikes.

Mitchell, now playing for Istanbul's Club Besiktas took a nasty fall last weekend. He was undercut while going up on defense and came down on his head and neck. Scary moment when he lay motionless on the hardwood for a few minutes. But he got up and walked back to the bench under his own power. He's out for this weekend's game.

I've been to the Besiktas Arena. It's in a really cool neighborhood. One of Istanbul's largest universities is just down the road, so there are tons of college kids running around. It has a view of the Bosporus and is just down the street from the historic Dolmabahce Palace, where the Ottoman Sultans ran their empire.

Hope Matt is back playing soon.

He's averaging 12 points and just under 5 rebounds per game.
