A lot of you guys are really underrating UCSB. They were picked to win a pretty decent Big West over LBSU and while they have struggled early this year, they are a good veteran club. They have two 6'6 seniors in James Nunnally and Orlando Johnson that average almost 20 ppg each and do it all for them offensively. If we are without Leonard or Taps again, we could be in huge trouble guarding those guys.
They have a 7'3 center who plays like 20 minutes a night, but other than that, we just need to focus on closing out on their shooters and not letting their high scoring duo get by us. We SHOULD win this game, but SB is a good ball club. Check them out tomorrow night when they play UNLV. Their guys might impress you.

UCSB have two players, Johsnon (Big West POY) and Nunnally who score all of the team's points. PG Brew does not shoot the ball much, but he is a tenacious defender and he will hound DJ all game.
UCSB fontline goes 6'8, 6'9 or 7'2 (Smogyi) if Coach elects to play him. I have seen Pastorek play and it is understanable why he left SDSU or was gently nudged out. He is 6'10, but he plays like he is 5'10! Their bench is highly suspect.
Let me state it this way, UCSB is a better team than Cal Poly. Interestingly, teams are Conference rivals and Cal Poly beat them last season, if you can believe that! Aztecs also, beat UCSB last season at their place.
Johnson is 6'5 and Nunally is 6'6. Both players can shoot and get in the paint. The good thing for the Aztecs is that UCSB plays UNLV tomorrow and two games in three days may wear them down. Also, I am not certain that UCSB plays well on the road.
Bottomline, should Aztecs play the was they played last night, they will have a difficult time winning the game. UCSB have players who can play, not afraid to play and will come in Viejas Arena with the attitude that they can win the game! I just hope that the Aztecs get healthy and do some soul searching about their roles on the team and play accordingly.

If the flu bug returns and we play like we did Monday I’ll be concerned. How are the starters doing? I'd like to know how practice goes today & who's healthy today?

every time a team steps on the court you better be prepared to play. This week is tough ,Finals, Flu and the team can have an off night- ( Cal Poly) If we are healthy and can hit shots we should be ok plus hopefully a SELL OUT- it helped when we had 3 in a row- hurt Monday night with less then 10K. Leaf - probably dropped when he heard we signed JR. and Thames. That gave us scholarship for Los Dos Franklins- so maybe we thank him-

2 guys averaging 20 points is scary, for sure, they play @unlv tonight so they will have been in a big atmosphere against a good team. If state is healthy and plays well they should win, but it will be a bit of a test and will end up a solid to good win by the end of the year.

UCSB plays at UNLV tonight at 7 pm. as far as I know, it is not televised. But it should be a good benchmarking game. I expect UNLV to win by 15.

Yes. Concerned if health issues continue. Concerned if crowd doesn't provide added energy for the team.

Worried? No Can we lose? Maybe, this will not be an easy win but we will be victorious. There is no chance that Fish will allow the team to under-perform like they did against CALPOLY with 4 days to prepare. So long as Chase& Kawhi (and rest of the starters) are over their illness we will win.

68-62 Final, UCSB wins at Thomas & Mack. Still not a little nervous? Holy cow! I wish I could be there, but the family is going to the Nut Cracker. This should be a great game. If the Gauchos can win in Vegas . . . weeeeell, that is something to take seriously. Yes, we should not take this game lightly. But tonight's victory by UCSB makes Saturday's game a great opportunity for the program. Since they have beaten the Rebels in Vegas, a win against UCSB should look good on our resume. Hey, has anybody heard how KL and CT (and anybody else) are feeling? AzWm

I think the fact that they beat UNLV is good for us. I can see them having a let down because of a huge emotional win at Vegas and then having to come right back down to San Diego. Also, it might wake up our guys more knowing that this is a good team.
