After watching Oakland upset Tennessee and hearing about Drexel upsetting Louisville.. I'm suddenly very wary of UCSB.
They are 5-3, shoot 45% from the field (hold opponents to 42%) and 37% from three point range.
Their RPI is just 121 but I feel they're just the type of team that could pull an upset. We really must not face a let down... just saying.

Well, I picked UCSB in that poll someone put up a few weeks ago as the first team to beat us, so yeah, I'm worried.

Only because SDSU hasn't lost yet and has such a high ranking etc. If I were looking at this game objectively...not particularly concerned at all, no.
That being said, lately I've become very worried about someone yanking the rug out from under us during our magic carpet ride of a season.

I know what you mean, they are a scrappy team and if we are hurting like Monday, this may be the one.

Oakland and Drexel are both much better than UCSB, both are good rebounding teams as to where UCSB is not. So no

Yes, a little.
UCSB is a tough team that returned almost all of thier top players and starters from a NCAA tourney team.
We will beat them Saturday night if we play our game. If we play anywhere near like we did against Cal Poly, we will get beat.

The Aztecs now have a target on their backs. It will make any team's season that beats them. They will be getting everyones "A" game.

I'd rank UCSB as the same level as Long Beach State, but no pushover and no easy win.
Hopefully, we'll be over the flu. If not, we may be in trouble.
Our "A" game will be needed if we expect to keep this ball rolling. Otherwise, I smell an upset.
Oldie Out

I'm worried.
I boarded up my windows and have been dehydrating food. I still need to check my diesel generator.

Anyone know is Leaf gets playing time for the Gauchos??? If he plays on Sat. should we boo him??? Anyone know just what really happened??? Hopefully Pastorek will get his minutes...I always liked him and we should welcome him....I believe Fish gently nudged him out....Nice kid and nice parents from OC.

I wouldn't boo the kid, I think his father is who is too blame from what I have heard. And btw he gets about 10 minutes per game but has sucked so far

Leaf is not getting much time at UCSB right now. Pastorek is getting about 15-20 minutes a game. I would boo either. I think Fisher gently nudged both of them out.

Oakland is far better than UCSB.
If everyone is healthy I think we are good. However, we still have lingering illness then I would have some worries.

I worry every game. Things happen, like being down 28-6 or going 0-18 on threes. The only games I don't worry about are at UNLV, at BYU and at the Pit. Most of those, we won't be expected to win.

We need to take every game seriously and respect our competition. Anything can happen. Take one game at a time. Don't look past anyone.
These are cliches, but they have stood the test of time as a result.
There is a chance that we will lose a game to a team we should beat this season.
Hopefully, it won't be the next game.
Let's rock UCSB out of our place.

Yes, somewhat. If, you are not concerned about this game then you should be a little. I'm not talking about being really worried, but they are an old rival, and could find a way to make things really challenging for our team. They are conference favorites in their conference so that makes them possible trouble.
