Two players on the Yale roster hail from San Diego, Yassine Gharram-Foothills Christian H.S and Devon Arlington-San Marcos H.S. Gharram practices at the JAM Center and knows the players & coaches well.

They're not deep. Yale's starting 5 all play at least 27 minutes/game. They're young, 235th in D-1 experience. They're not a great shooting FT team, they're 254th. They have two starters that shoot 40% and 45% from 3 but the rest of them are 33%, 24% and 14%. They're 220th in 3-point attempts. They lost to both Gonzaga and Kansas on the road by 15. Poulakidas, the kid who had the game of his life against Auburn, (6-9 from 3) 28 points, is 6'6" so maybe Byrd and Waters will be on him. We should certainly be able to out-athletic them. Hope this is like the Furman game. A lot depends on how they ref LeDee. And, I'll add that they probably have never faced a defense like ours. Put the pressure on those youngsters!!!

Lamont locks up their stud guard. Guarantee We need this, LeDee getting their Wolf in foul trouble and the rest of the players to hit some shots. Help defense is going to be incredibly important in doing that. Butler is going to need to smother their guard past the 3 point line, and LeDee is going to have to be on the other side of ball screens, so we need our PF to rotate into the key to cut off drives, and prevent easy post touches from their 7 footer.

Waters, Parrish and Saunders need to come through offensively.

I'll chime in with this:
Even if you hold Poulakidas in check, you can't discount Mahoney or Knowling getting hot. Those three are interchangeable. But they are also streak-shooters. Just as any of them may have a "Poulakidas/Auburn" type of game on any given day, any of those three can also be ice cold. That's the Yale perimeter.
As for the 5, I expect Wolf to have a much better game. He looked out-of-sorts even before the opening tip yesterday. He may or may not go off, given his height advantage and all-around game -- but he should at least play up to his par, which includes checking several boxes as an offensive player. Wolf does not play a one-dimensional game. I'm not Dutch, but if I were, I'd rotate Heide in to guarding him for big minutes to alleviate potential foul trouble on LeDee -- who should really tip the balance tomorrow. This really could be a moment for Heide to get a huge amount of March Madness-level confidence going into next season, doing the dirty work to spring loose LeDee (as if he needed somebody to do that).
I am really stoked to watch this and am only sad to not be there in person.

I wonder what others think.... The announcers yesterday were questioning why Auburn didn't pressure Yale the full 94feet ? they said they gave Yale too much time to run their half court offense and felt that if Auburn who was the more athletic and deeper team had pressured full court it would have given Yale much less time to set up their offense to try and score.
Any thoughts ?

I think the key to the game is eliminating the unforced turnovers due to lazy passes, trying to hard to do something spectacular or just carelessness. Unforced turnovers are such a momentum killer.
Cutting back can be a 10-12 point swing. Cutting out 6 TOs and turning those possessions into buckets will bring some daylight and the difference in any game.

We have seen a lot of lazy passes recently, something that can (and should) be tightened up. We'd be foolish to underestimate them (and I don't think we will), but if we bring our A game we win.

I watched the Yale & Brown (13-17) Ivy League Tournament. It was crazy because Brown was a Big underdog just getting to the Championship game and Yale won it on a last second Big man lay up. They played a great game against Auburn so hopefully the Aztecs are not looking past them for a rematch with UCONN.

We've lost 10 games this year.....We cannot afford nor good enough to look past anyone....
