Seems pretty clear what the problem is in the MWC. They don't see bonafide bigs on their teams very often, and the ones they do manage to entice are usually those from the leftover market - so there's never really a conference schedule that's filled with 7 foot monsters. When these teams get to the NCAAT, some of them don't know how to defend for a whole game against a real live "big". At least SDSU was able to schedule decent OOC competition and saw some big players, but now even that's going away as they'll have two fewer opportunities to play possible MM teams and see how other conferences play. MWC admin hasn't got a clue about this at all, and their current "Hair" is even more clueless than the one who came before her. What motivation would a team like Purduehave playing a school like Colorado State on the road? Mwc teams need to schedule road games to get their players used to playing at sea level with a hostile crowd and not getting any calls. Sdsu is the only team that goes out of its way to play real competition. We are always tourney ready by March. The 2021 and 2022 Aztec squads called to say "hi" Those Teams were not Tourney ready. |
