Monsoon is going to get another HC job. Do you think Monson would be a serious candidate for Pepperdine? Initially, I thought this could be a good landing spot for him, but they might be thinking bigger. I guess we will know soon, but Monson is a good coach as you all know so I am sure he will have options.

Things went off the rails at LBSU when the University incentivized him to take money games. I don’t think Pepperdine has those kind of budget limitations.

He might be a life time assistant coach. Up to Brian. Certainly seems that way. He was out of his depth as the head man.

He might be a lifetime assistant coach. Up to Brian. Certainly seems that way. He was out of his depth as the head man. sjvsun.com/sports/bulldogs/fresno-state-posts-mens-basketball-job-application/ FRESNO STATE HC Job Application Qualifications: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree along with at least five years of experience coaching men’s basketball at the collegiate or professional level. Fresno State is looking for someone with experience overseeing academics who has a demonstrated record of coaching success at a Division 1 program. The new coach must also be able to effectively communicate with the media. Fundraising is also a requirement. Fresno State is requiring candidates to be able to generate philanthropic funds to support the program. While it’s not a requirement, the job application states that the university prefers a candidate to have previous head coaching experience. Compensation: Fresno State can offer a salary of up to $49,583 per month, which comes to nearly $595,000 annually. Hutson had a base salary of $550,000 in his final year after starting at $500,000 when he was hired in 2018. Former head coach Rodney Terry made $600,000 in his final year at Fresno State. Fresno State’s compensation package does not match up with the top schools in the Mountain West. According to USA Today, San Diego State pays Brian Dutcher over $2.3 million, while Nevada pays Steve Alford $1.25 million. Utah State head coach Danny Sprinkle, who almost lost to the ‘Dogs last week, makes $900,000. What we’re watching: The university does not have a deadline to fill the job, accepting applications until the job is filled.

I don’t see Monson going to Fresno. I also don’t see Fresno looking at SDSU assistant coaches again. Now LBSU will certainly look our way.
If Leon Rice were to take the Washington job, I could see Monson joining as an assistant. Maybe a school like Pacific would look at Monson.

Monson had his last game today. And Arizona didn't hold back. Oh well. He goes out with a loss, but he actually won the race.

I haven't heard anything about Acker being mentioned for a HC job. I seem to recall that his wife has a very good job here in San Diego. Long Beach could be a decent job if they don't ask the coach to be cannon fodder in OOC. Acker came here from Boise to get back in SoCal so he would be a good fit at LB if that is an offer for him.

Rice must be bad in an interview because he’s interviewed for a lot of jobs and hasn’t got any of them. But if he had won some NCAA games he probably wouldn’t be at Boise and they’d be a horrible program.

His specialty is defense and that is covered by Dutch and Velasquez. Dutch will look for an offensive minded coach. JMO.

He should check with USD and UCSD as a defensive specialist asst coach to stay in town with his wife. I bet they would make room for him. Perhaps Stan can facilitate some meetings.

Ah, blacks can be racist also. Whites haven't cornered the market on racism. Okay. But what is more likely? 1. FSU has a racist black Athletic Director keeping Hutson down? Or... 2. Hutson pulling the race card to save his job? And maybe Hutson's wife still has a job because SDSU is concerned that she has his lawyers on speed dial? FSU is still investigating Hutson's racism claim, so let's see how it plays out. I'm certainly no lawyer but I would seem that in order to prove the racism charge, he would have to be in possession of emails, texts or recordings of people in high places saying or alluding to racist acts or indications. Because their history of hiring black administrators and coaches would strongly suggest otherwise.

If he does go there, I wish him well and thanks for everything he's done to help this program. Everyone, including me, will want Dutch to hire an offensive-minded coach. I think a lot of us are tired of the pretty stagnant, stand-around, little-weave-at-the-head-of-the-key system we mostly run now. And with LeDee gone next year, any significant inside-out play will be less likely too. But after all these years of following the Fisher/Dutcher era, I wonder whether we'll ever have an offense with lots of movement given the amount of constant exertion Dutcher demands on defense. Unless he can duplicate Nolan Richardson's "40-minutes of Hell" that gave them multiple Final Fours, 2 National Championship Finals an 1 National Championship, it probably won't happen. I'll be happy if we could just get a couple real shooters. I'm not giving up on BJ Davis yet. His 50%-40%-90% high school numbers have to have some merit.

I happily accept your level of understandable sarcasm and yes I love and appreciate any and all runs into and through MM, BUT, you can't tell me you wouldn't enjoy the games more if we were able to extend leads rather than lose them by having a few sharpshooters out on the perimeter now and them.
