There is a video of the Aztecs players celebrating their name being called from the NCAA selection show. It is time to allow comments on the goaztecs page on youtube. Instead comments are turned off. That must change.

Ok, just curious, why do you feel so strongly that this needs to be changed?

My response is on June 1, 2020, Athletic Director Wicker sent an email (I kept this email) to the Aztecs community calling for an "open dialogue" about May 2020 events. An 'open dialogue" means both pro and con comments are allowed and can be extended to all issues involving SDSU. Closing comments is not an open dialogue and against what that Wicker email said. This video showed the players in a celebratory action of finding out who they would play in the NCAA tournament and the community can't respond with comments on this video. Next, YouTube allows comments on their videos.

I don't blame the school for closing comments...it's the pr department distributing content...the want to show the public the best/positive side of the school/team...therefore, it eliminates all the negative bs some commenters feel entitled to spiel about every little aspect of the play, team, coaching staff, and administration...prudent move by SDSU for sure....

What I find disappointing is that the videos go back only 2 years. I used to re-watch the Steve Fisher (and players) pre and post-game pressers a couple years after the fact. I guess they archive everything older than 2 years, but why?

I would suggest that YouTube comments is not the optimal place to conduct an "open dialogue" between SDSU (University as a whole / Athletics) and alumni & supporters... and I would certainly agree with not allowing comments there, as it's more likely to attract trolls (in general, or specifically those from other rival universities) than any genuine dialogue.

How does "an open dialogue on May 2020 events" pertain to players celebrating at an event almost four years later? Did they extend the scope of the topic?

He probably wanted to comment something like "You suck! You disappointed me for losing 3 out of the last 5 in the reg season". Or, "Don't celebrate get the 5 seed you losers". You know how it goes with some posters. No one would be complain about the comment section being closed unless they had something mean and negative to say and want to be "heard".

My comment would have been supportive of the players and coaches. Beat UAB and whatever happens after that.
