In my opinion, there was a bit of fool’s gold in Utah State winning the conference championship. Look at their last 5 conference games (all wins): They beat Fresno, Air Force and San Jose State, as well as the Aztecs and New Mexico in Logan (with these two being close games). We beat them handily at home and in the conference tournament.
I also think Colorado State will make an early exit from the NCAA tourney.

I would not be surprised to see the MW get only 1 team into the tournament next year with the new 20 game league schedule. I also would not be surprised to see the league go 1-5 in the first round (with only a SDSU win). If you look at Zigler's article in todays' paper, only Colorado St had a schedule good enough to get in without wins over SDSU or teams that beat SDSU. Stevens is injured and just like Florida St, Colorado St should be downgraded to the Championship tourney.
Without SDSU, this would have been a 1 or 2 team selection.

Bottom line, respect has to be earned. In years past, I felt SDSU was under seeded and disrespected. SDSU earned the respect of the committee by 1) challenging themselves in the non-conference schedule with road, neutral games and playing P5 schools and 2). Beating overall #1 Alabama and advancing to National Champ game last year.
Other MWC schools have not challenged themselves in non conference and have terrible March Madness record.
MWC can change the narrative this week with wins against P5 schools.

The committee will always look for a way to disrespect us or any other MWC team.

Does Boise State have the best chance of winning a game? Colorado was 4-7 in away games.
I don’t like our match up against UAB. The others are going to have a tough time. It’ll hurt the MW if they send 6 teams and get no wins. MW teams aren’t built for the NCAA Tournament. At least we’ll get some credits to help with the limit TV revenue.

They didn't beat a single P5 team.....they haven't even played a single P5 team this season. I know so called power conferences have weak teams as well but perception still counts. They had an incredibly weak out of conference schedule. In Utah States defense, they had a new coach and a roster that returned zero points in offense. Sprinkle created a roster out of nothing and probably didn’t want to push a bunch of difficult early season games on his newly created team. I don’t think even think Sprinkle envisioned his team being in this position. Sprinkle did great things this year and USU deserved a better seed, at least a 6. He has been mentioned in the replacement of the Washington coach.

Put a 25 point beatdown on ACC and UVA. Win one and win another. Pretty soon, it's next week...

MWC plan to get as many seeds as possible diluted SDSU's seed. no reason for us to share the same seed as Gonzaga and St Mary's. not rooting for any of the Mountain Goat teams this year. How many MWC teams left?

Agreed, the refs had nothing to do with us misfiring shot after shot after shot. The refs had absolutely NOTHING to do with ANY of our losses. Fans are fans and are always going to think the team they root for is getting screwed, all the while most fans wouldn't know their way through a rulebook. I HATE blaming the refs for losses, but if you don't think the uncalled muggings on LeDee all conference long played any part whatsoever, I don't know what you were watching. Even the TV commentators mentioned it at least once a game, and multiple times in the @unlv game. The MW games State lost weren't because of officiating. It's because we couldn't shoot 3's to save our lives. Couldn't make free throws or secure defensive rebounds in the last three minutes. That is all.

I would say they value the OOC games but more the net. Each seed is consistent or close to consistent with their net ranking. The net does not penalize close losses against good teams. I personally think that great teams find ways to win close games. However, the net is the current ranking system in favor by selection committee and it is an improvement on RPI. Because the Aztec conference losses, except NM, were close against good teams usually away (Boise home loss excepted) they did not negatively impact our net much. Net shows a #5, committee gave us a #5. I was expecting a #6 due to the number of losses. Go aztecs Then why is New Mexico a 11 seed with a 22 net? There was no consistency into the process Los Lobos were bid stealers. i.e. no MW Tourney title, no NCAA invite. When you lose at home to AFA, and twice to UNLV you deserve a lousy seed.
