Why were three teams from last years final four placed in the same bracket? I saw no reason for that. Two Mountain West teams in play-in games? Head shaking to me. All about the metrics I guess. Maybe I thought the Mountain West Conference would have received more love. Like our Aztecs proved last year, got to go out there and do it.

SDSU has earned some favoritism by winning numerous games last season during MM while other MW teams have not
There were some reports that the selection group started doing their selections Friday evening
As Dutcher has done - schedule quality games during the OOC - and next season there could be 2 less OOC games - Believe Zags are scheduled to travel to SDSU . Forgot what T SDSU plays in next season

A 2024 Thanksgiving tournament has the Aztecs vs. USC in Palm Desert. Two notable teams in that event will be announced later. SDSU could be in an 8-team NIL Pay for Play in season tournament at MGM Arena in Las Vegas. Dates to be announced. Another team in that tournament might be Duke plus other notable top 25 teams that have played in the Final Four except Alabama. Some programs claiming National Championships. 10 teams are in discussion to be in that 8-team loaded tournament that features better teams than the Aztecs faced in Maui in 2023. Then there is the Gonzaga home game. That is scheduling up.

Just booked a a 7 a.m. direct flight on Alaska for Monday morning. I hear Sunday nights in Spokane are a hoot. Yup, you are right. Spokane is second only to Vegas on Sunday nights. I hear that Spokane is hopping with all the Bing Crosby lookalikes crooning from street corners, sort of like Vegas and all the Elvis impersonators. My first stop is going to be a visit to the Bing Crosby museum, located on the campus of Gonzaga University in the house where Der Bingle grew up. Should be a rip-roarin' weekend. Can't wait.

I haven’t been to Spokane in a couple of decades, but it has quite a unique vibe. Some cool places and old architecture in a very small downtown.
But it also felt a little like an east coast so-so little city, almost like a town with an old steel mill that somehow was picked up and dropped in northeastern Washington.
Coeur d’Alane - an 40 minute drive east across the WA border in Idaho - on the day off (Saturday) and maybe find a nice place on the Lake for lunch. Though there could be a bit of snow everywhere.

Why were three teams from last years final four placed in the same bracket? One conspiracy is that they don't want to chance that we could see multiple of these teams in the Final 4. My conspiracy theory is that they want an early rematch. If SDSU gets to the Sweet 16, they probably will be playing UConn (and if UConn falls, then possibly FAU). Either scenario means they have a big storyline to report on all week leading up to the Sweet 16. They can hype the game up as us looking for revenge (or FAU looking for revenge).

Credit to those that insisted we were nothing worse than a 5 seed.....I thought for sure, 6 or 7....Likely 7! I'm gladly eating crow tonight! Go Aztecs! Always stay the night. I've had friends have to leave because they forget that the games aren't over at 5 in the afternoon!

Oh it's definitely for the storyline. 100%. Also UCONN vs. FAU, the game that never happened because of Butler's shot.

appreciate the update of the games for next year . Is there also a game with BYU ?
UCSD would very likely only be a home game for SDSU If they can put things together

I know a number of folks getting places there for the summer. It is on my short list for a summer place, but I am not going to be there in the winter. Lots of fireman and police officers going there for retirement.

The committee said that the other MWC teams didn't have much quality wins outside the conference, just inside the conference (namely us). This was a day or so after the MWC voted to increase the number of conference games from 18-20. Get us out of this chickenshit conference.

The Spokane Arena looks like the Sports Arena in San Diego. One exception is the luxury boxes under the second level. It holds about 12,000. There is an open area on the 4 corner area of the baseline seats. The Spokane Arena hosts hockey. So it might be cool inside that venue. Search is Spokane Arena and photos. Advertising boards are on the railing of the second level with a scoreboard on the railing.

Weird/fun fact: The University of Idaho, located in Moscow, ID, some 80 miles southeast of Spokane, is listed by the NCAA as the host for this weekend's bracket.

One can always check out nearby Lamont, WA, pop. 77. Could be an omen. They say they're a nuclear-free zone, but let's hope the other Lamont will be dropping plenty of bombs in the region.

NCAA should make it a point to have Viejas Arena host first round games every year, or at least every other year. Hopefully, the new sports arena going up in Midway will be big enough to attract Sweet-16/Elite-8 games some day.

Either scenario means they have a big storyline to report on all week leading up to the Sweet 16. They can hype the game up as us looking for revenge (or FAU looking for revenge). Here's my theory and I am reaching a bit: Since SDSU vs UConn was the least watched NCAA finals game ever, maybe it hurt the NCAA 'brand' even though the Aztecs deserved to be there. Wasn't it refreshing to see a team from a conference that has never been in the championship game? One would think so. So, they threw an over-seeded FAU team in our bracket just because (Hey, UConn, take care of these two immediately!). Anyone remember Butler-Duke final in 2011? What would have happened if that half court shot went in for Butler? The NCAA would have gone code red. Here's what I've learned: If the love children of NCAA men's basketball (Duke, Kansas, UConn, North Carolina, Kentucky, Villanova) aren't in the Championship game, then the NCAA starts tripping out. I'll be happy when a non power five school finally wins the whole thing.
