Dutcher has allowed a lot of the players to play in a "free lance" style of play - maybe now it might not hurt to run more specific set plays
In addition and mentioned by others - guys have to move more without the ball and the guys have to be looking to pass more then they do - play a little smarter not necessarily harder
Have to make the opponents chase SDSU more then they do - SDSU seems to stand in one place or two without much movement - and there are not a lot of good crisp passes to an open or cutting player
SDSU works hard on defense - but the offense could also use some guidance
Players have to use their quickness to get open - expect a pass and maybe make one themselves
Saunders - should also be making plays near the basket for some additional points Not strictly popping out for his three point shot . He is also over 95% on his FT's as is Waters - even Bryd is close to 85% - draw some fouls as you are heading to the basket - maybe even an old 3 point play

Sometimes I wonder whether Stan is a prototype of an AI chatbot for Aztecs sports, and just spouts banalities. This team runs a ton of structured offense this year - multiple dribble handoff and movement without the ball; Gortat screens, curls, all sorts of post entry plays from both the top of the key and the wings.
Guys, specifically Waters and Parrish, are just in a shooting slump. The only guys who don’t seem to hesitate with their 3 point looks are Trammell and Saunders.
Ledee also isn’t very comfortable passing quickly out of double/triple teams - that hesitation allows defenders to recover to the perimeter faster. And honestly, I can’t blame him as he probably feels he has to score more as others struggle.

LeDee struggled early in the season getting the ball out as double teams come, still not great. For some bigs if a double comes they will automatically kick it out and shooters are ready, with LeDee it varies and that can throw shooters off rhythm.

Time to throw some positive energy to this thread. Parrish, Waters & Sanders 1 of 20 and 1 of 11 from three, it can only get better, today's the day to create momentum hit some shots so we can cut down nets.
Today's the Day.

only wish it was a slump - we are looking at stats over 30 games and think the 31 % for the team has continued to go down
the fearful thought is that most of the threes are not even contested - guys are purposely left open - as the other team more then welcomes SDSU taking them
Saunders had gotten hot for a game or maybe two - so he simply continues to shoot them - at least he is over 30 % but he may have forgotten that he is at about 95% on FT - so maybe hit the boards and maybe get a put back rebound or two while drawing a foul .
The 3 point shot are going to be there - so maybe If there was additional movement with out the ball and additional passing there might be some better % shots

It has been mentioned numerous times on this board how much we need as a team to go to the basket, especially Waters, Parrish, Butler and Saunders. When you look at the big picture of the defensive movements of our opposition, you almost always see 2 and often 3 guys ready to immediately sag onto LeDee when he gets the ball. That completely clogs up the key and often makes the infrequent drives to the rim by Butler and DT unsuccessful. Only Butler's elite athleticism gets him above the fray enough to sometimes score.
And Parrish and Waters can't seem to find their way through that mass of bodies either. Byrd is the most creative but his handles are not great all the time. Seems like LeDee could move out to and stay in the corner longer sometimes to open up that middle space. I know we need him under there for rebounding but it should also take the other team's rim protector out of that space to make the drives easier.
I don't really consider the "weave" we do at the head of the key, real "movement" on offense. I'd like to see some mix of Princeton cuts with some occasional pick and rolls which we never do.

I'll go out on the proverbial limb, Parrish hits 2 threes and Saunders hits 3, LeDee scores 21 tonight against the Aggies. 77-75 Aztecs

you are correct - the staff might need to assist the offense - set plays or something to help jump start the offense
Agree that some additional movement and cuts to the basket might assist in getting guys open or over loading a zone or two
Little doubt that every team SDSU is going to play is going to clog Ledee in every way they can and leave other Aztecs open but as it was yesterday shots are not falling from the outside
Does it help calling plays for the other guys when they are used to playing a little more free lance style of play
Teams have been switching to various zones to further mess up the guys
would also add that it sure seemed even some close shots were also not going in or finished
Should be interesting to see how USU sets up their defense - as they have their top 5 going against him
Would guess that the networks are going to feature that battle down low on both sides of the court

Parrish…Saunders…Butler…and anyone else who suits up for the Aztecs are, in my own opinion, “Aztecs for Life”…
Those words are not just a motto or “branding”…this means that they chose us and we chose them…
…this also means that I choose to support them…win or lose…hot hand or slump…make or break.
They are Aztec players / coaches…I am an Aztec fan…that’s what I do

We are going to miss a lot of the first half because the game prior to ours is running late.

An Aztec friend of mine in Vegas said he watched Parrish shoot 3s before yesterday's games. He shot 25 threes from all around the circle and hit 20 of them. Then he comes into the game and misses all 6 3s he took yesterday. Go figure. He comes in today looking like Chase Tapley, slashing to the rim and burying bombs. What a welcome sight!

Parish is not the only player who couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat. The production has dropped for a ton of players. Some due to injury, but it’s not fair to just focus on Parish. "Bevacqua couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat." Tommy Lasorda Famous Jim Healy drop. Kurt Bevacqua was a mediocre utility journeyman ball player. For whatever reason, after the Dodgers traded him to the Pads, he destroyed Dodger pitching. Here's the full Tommy Lasorda meltdown over Bevacqua. youtu.be/fzjWQF1oP2M?si=Akd6tmuCL2UYPZJk

Imo, kast year Parrish was a role player and did well in that role. This year he has been asked to be a contributor. He hasn't done well with the increased expectations.
He had a good game against the Utags. Then went right back into his slump against the Lobos.
