Parrish missed a layup, then an open 3 and finally a shot in the lane close to the rim. He may have been fouled on the last shot although that non-call didn't appear as egregious as 68 other ones were last night. On the way back up the floor he expressed his frustration to the ref and got the T. I think it was the 0-3 start in the first 3:02 of the game that was the biggest source of frustration. Parrish is taking too many shots, especially early in the game. "Some guys don't know they are open for a reason" -- Chick Hearn It's his shot selection that's most questionable. He passes up wide-open shots to drive into traffic and throw up a prayer in traffic hoping for a foul call or even worse...getting the ball stripped before he can even attempt a shot I wouldn't mind if he took those open threes. He's a streak shooter so if he makes that first one, good things happen

It's on the coaching staff to teach him how to get calls when challenged. I'd like to see Saunders do this. The way he's built the defenders may use the matador defense.

The Aztecs offensive coaching leaves plenty for discussion. Acker doesn't seem to have what it takes, and he should be looking for another job this summer. Of course, that's not how the program works, with loyalty and all, so unless someone else wants him, he'll be here well past his 'best if used by' date.

I really think we would be better served running pick and pop and pick and roll with LeDee and Trammell/Butler, then the motion offense that we run. Parrish frequently takes an 'okay' shot instead of making the extra pass, or a pump fake dribble shot as well. I think that the motion offense is part of that. It's easy to get a little bit of separation in the motion offense, but you can get much more wide open shots in the pick and roll. Parrish can knockdown wide open ones, but he struggles making 3's with only a little bit of separation. Same with Byrd.
Butler passes up good shots from outside, makes you wonder how much of it is in his head. Trammell is a better 3 point shooter then Butler. Makes you wish Butler would drive to the rim more, both to get Trammell open, and because Butler is bad at catch and shoot from 3.

a team is what their stats say it is
SDSU is Not a good 3 point shooting team - only 2 guys are over 40% but have Saunders and Waters at over 90% FT - DT and Bryd are over 80% - Ledee - Pal - Parrish over 70%
There are teams that use the drawing of fouls to score a good amount of points - Saunders prefers to play more like a 3 but it would sure help if he also was there for second chance points - or maybe play him at the 3
BSU did have some luck - with their 3 point shots especially the one at close to mid court and their big Martin banging in one
SDSU was not able to close out the game - Lamont missing his FT and some questionable defense at the end of regulation
SDSU went up by 10 in the game but could not hold it -
Bottom line To keep shooting threes - especially guys that are between 28 and 32 % does not make sense even if they are open - as every other team is giving SDSU that shot as they know that is a weak point in SDSU 's game - team average about 31 %
