Utah State this year got to avoid games at Nevada and UNLV which really helped them win the conference. You figure that is at least 1 loss there. UNLV which is in 2nd got to avoid at Utah State and Boise State. Again at least 1 loss there. So in terms of winning the conference it probably helps us most years since we seem to always miss the bottom of the conference teams (like SJSU and Air Force). We always miss the bottom of the conference cause that’s how they design the schedule. They want us in more high profile games since it’s better for TV and for the conference in general. Better for us to avoid bad road losses, worse for our chances to win the conference in the regular season. Part of the reason why UNLV doesn't have an at large bid is because they lost by 32 at Air Force. We missed having to play at Wyoming this year, which is huge. If we lost by 32 at Wyoming, that might put us on the bubble.

If you take this year's schedule and take out at UCSD and home against Point Loma and instead substituted at Wyoming and home against Air Force, would it have really made a difference? I leave this here. So you can understand why this is bad and going to hurt the conference in the long run.

18 game season was fine but overall strength of schedule in conference games should have been the No. 1 tiebreaker for the unbalanced schedule and teams that finish with the same conference record. The men didn't play Air Force 11th seed at home and Wyoming 8th on the road. The current tiebreakers cost the Aztecs women a higher seeding while finishing in a 4-team tie for 4th. The women played Nevada 4th seed on the road and Fresno 9th seed at home once.

Damnit, we are NOT a mid-major basketball program! SDSU is a MAJOR program and a member of a MAJOR conference. I cite as evidence Lindy's basketball preview magazine. The list of the major conferences is as follows:
AAC ACC ATLANTIC 10 BIG EAST BIG 12 BIG 10 MOUNTAIN WEST Pac-12 SEC West Coast
Among the 22 Mid-Major/Minors they list such conferences as the following:
America East Big Sky Big West Coastal Athletic Ivy League Missouri Valley Patriot League Sun Belt WAC
To refer to SDSU as a "mid-major" program is to bow down to the East Coast bias that is unaware of any teams playing west of the Mississippi River. Let's not fall for that nonsense!

"We ain't no Mid-Major!!! I agree with you based on the level of play, but based not on revenue, exposure, recruiting, and national respect. We still have a way to go and that holds for the A10, AAC, WCC & us. But yes, the talent crevasse between the P5 (P6) is closing, and that's driven by schools like Gonzaga, SDSU, Dayton, St Mary's, and Memphis State

I like it. Home and away against all. No fairer than that. I'll sure miss sitting thru two pos games against local powerhouse teams or directional schools no one knows. Reschedule usd home and away once a year and don't be such a *****. Our home schedule is getting weaker for out of conference games as it is because teams don't want to come here and get beat. This change should not hinder our ability to schedule ooc away or neutral court if being honest.

I support a balanced schedule for sure.
As pointed out in some of the posts above, the unbalanced schedule this year definitely played a major role in the conference regular season results.
So I like playing home and away, but maybe we need to lose two schools (Air Force and San Jose State) from the conference?
