11-3 in conference, tied with Irvine. Look out for Thing One and Thing Two!

I wonder if the fans are showing up to their games. I know they don't typically draw well. I hope the students are getting out and supporting the team. It sounds like they are having a really good year.

I think they’re ineligible for not only March Madness but even their conference tournament. I know there’s a couple year period for when a school transitions from DII to DI. Not sure why that is., especially if a team is capable of beating their conference teams.

They are indeed ineligible for the NCAA tournament. Notice their home record of 13-1… I wonder who that 1 loss was against?

I looked up the reason for the 4-year transition time. It's to make sure the school is truly committed to the move up for good and not just do it when they happen to get a bunch of new, talented kids.

Thanks for doing that, I've been wondering what the reasoning is. Sounds like an old rule that should be gone. Would that be even feasible nowadays?

appreciate you finding the answer BUT
crazy in today's world of transfers and NIL that they have that rule

Absolutely, totally ridiculous rule now given how players are currently allowed to hop around chasing the NIL $$$.

I'm sure the town would be hopping! Well, things will be hopping on the mesa. A little at UCSD. I don't think USD makes the tournament next year but if they did no one would notice. UCSD, by the way, is aiming for the CBI tournament, which isn't affiliated with the NCAA, so the transition rule doesn't apply, according to the newspaper.

I looked up the reason for the 4-year transition time. It's to make sure the school is truly committed to the move up for good and not just do it when they happen to get a bunch of new, talented kids. There are easy ways to deal with this without punishing a team having a good season. For example if you move up to D1 and then drop back down to D2 you lose any NCAA tournament credits and you are ineligible to rejoin D1 for 10 years (or some other specified time interval that is long enough for this not to be a problem).

in basics If a a school earns the bid to MM then they should get to go
who is it benefitting to hold them back and it seems you are punishing the students and team for doing a good job
yet the NCAA is quite slow to punish a school for actual violations
but once again ding the smaller schools and look the other way for some P6 schools
