"There's another game tomorrow …" until there isn't. And the Padres will be lucky if their last game isn't on Sept. 29 in Phoenix they way they're playing this season.
They have a real opportunity to make some noise against a bunch of bottom feeders and they're 2-4 so far. Oakland and Arizona still coming up., but they've got to do better than this.

I haven't heard the "numbers on the back of our baseball cards" references in a while. You know, that calm assurance that no matter how crappy they seem to be playing, they will eventually turn things around and bring their stats back to "normal" by the end of the year. The only guy that did that last year was Bogaerts and he only caught fire in September when we were mostly out of it.
I think Tatis will be fine but I worry about that big extension to Manny being an issue even in the near future. Manny's getting hurt a lot, isn't hitting for power and is grounding into double plays like crazy. And Bogaerts seems injury-prone already. There's almost $60M a year for the next 10 years to two guys already 31.
