One of the more interesting subplots now is the rise of Adrian Morejon into a pretty darn good reliever. Slider has the highest current whiff rate in baseball. He walked his first batter of the season tonight. I believe that's 1 BB vs 19 K's. That is a pretty decent BB/K ratio. Apparently a few minor adjustments (shown last night in split frame) to his delivery made for some major differences so far.

Niebla lowered his arm slot back to 2019/2020 and it's generated more shape on both the fastball and the slider. It's legit. Donovan Solano up from El Paso, Eguy Rosario down. Day off in the field for Bogaerts today with the day game after the night game, Arraez into the field for the day.

Well, it looks like it'll be No Go Joe for the next couple of weeks. Elbow inflammation. He's going from one injury to the next. Too bad. Just when things were really starting to look up for the Padres… www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/05/padres-place-joe-musgrove-on-15-day-injured-list.htmlAnd now Waldron comes in today with what has become his own special brand of lousy pitching. Already 2-0. Can't get anyone out. Now 4-0 … Padres pick up three in the top of the inning. Sure hope Waldron shuts them down and doesn't make things worse instead, but of course, he walks the first batter. Gives up two more runs so now it's 6-3. He just sucks. Too bad none of the infielders AJP is so in love with trading for can pitch.

Waldron disappointing today. The Padres offense is at least trying to keep it close.

But Waldron just can't help himself. I get that the Padres want to give him a chance up here, but he's pitching himself out of a job when he throws like he did today.
8 starts, and only one quality start, that's very telling.
Gave up 8 runs today in less than 4 innings, only 7 ER because of Arreaz' error at 2nd.
3 BB and only 2 Ks. That's not gonna cut it in the big leagues.
And so they bring in Beef Burrito who promptly adds more runs to the total. 10-4 now.
Padres pitching sucks today.

The only thing of any real value they gave up was Naylor, who suffered a serious injury and has been able to overcome it, albeit as a value-capped DH.

The game was over at that point, anyway. You're not winning any Juan Soto trade, though.

They can think what they want. It's been a month for Brito, he's obviously not a finished product. I'll still take the return, especially considering Thorpe led to Cease.

Ryan, with lefty Steele on the mound today why no Manny in the lineup? Just a workload/recovery/rest day?

Another nice win tonight. Darvish looked really good, Croney keeps on keepin on, and Campy had a really good day. Nice debut for Solano. Bullpen not said great, again. Suarez did his thing, though. Let's get a lengthy streak going.

Cubs pitcher, Imanaga, is plowing straight through Padres' hitters tonight. Couldn't ask much more from Vasquez, but Padres have to get into the BP. And that's not happening anytime soon since Imanaga's only put 65 on his Pitch Count so far. Machado completely overmatched. Boegarts is not far behind.

They sat Arraez and Merrill, assuming so because they're left handed hitters. Maybe there's a different reason, but yeah, he owns Machado. Good to see Vasquez throw well.

A Tough bounce for A Joker. Who could've predicted that rebound. Right back to the first baseman. Still only 1-0, so every pitch counts.
Could be a good inning to get to Imanaga. He looked a little spent last inning, and he's sitting at 95 pitches for the night.
Thanks for tuning in, Profar! You did it.

Walks hurt. Walk the leadoff guy like Matsui did, and there's a good chance he's scoring and he did.
