Cease hasn't got Chit tonight. Biggest game of the year so far, too. And now Freeman - bad wheel and all - steals a base on him.
Call challenged. Aaaaaaaand SAFE.
Good grief.

Great call, Shidt - bring in Moron. And wow! He performed exactly as expected. doyers didn't even have to hit the ball to get a run. Luckily, Solano and the Padres get a force at the plate. And that helped … for a minute. Then there's Enchilada. D'oh!

Profart blows through another AB. 3 for 22 now. Killing them softly with his lack of a bat. Tough time for him to complete his regression to the mean.
The Groan Zone is groaning… and it isn't a good omen.
Padres are running out of time tonight. They need to get to doyers' BP the way the doyers did it to theirs.
Solano, it's up to you. No pressure… and no dice.
Oh well.

Hmmmm, playoffs, late inning pressure situations, and the Padres can’t hit with bases loaded in the 8th.
Not good.

Manny's kryptonite, that sweeper/slider. I kept saying Treinen's gonna keep throwing it, since he'll swing at it. Bummer. Not a great game for the Pads. Sloppy, and they had their chances. Go get em tomorrow.

We were really close to winning that game, in several different ways. Just one of those nights. At least we got deep into their bullpen. Our bullpen prevented Shohei (and their lineup in general) from doing much.
Treinen held on for the 5 out save (39 pitches)! He's definitely not available tomorrow.
We need Darvish to do a better job then Cease did. Can't let fastballs leak out over the middle of the plate like that against Shohei, and they need to throw the fastball higher in the zone then you normally would to 'normal' hitters. You're just giving him way too much to work with, and at his height, you could throw that 2 inches higher and still get calls, as well as and swings.

Offense has to score against the bullpen. One run in the playoffs isn't going to cut it. Pretty much a must win tomorrow, as much as I despise that cliche. Short leash on Darvish, make Flaherty work for every pitch (I think he's pitching through injury) and close the deal with some better defense.

Yes, I was talking about that during the game that you can get Ohtani out with high heat, but it has to higher than normal since he stands straight up which gives him more room in the strike zone to work with. I think it was Scott who struck him out with a perfect high heat pitch that was text book. It was at the perfect height with heat. Not Ceases pitch. It definitely wasn't high enough. Gotta win tomorrow.

I'm looking at Profar and Cronenworth to step up to the post season plate today. There's no time for any more nonsense at the plate. Work the pitch count up if they can't do anything else when they're up there.
Hopeful that this PSA will mean both players bomb with aplomb today.

They either win today or they must win the next three straight. And no Steve Garvey this time to bail them out - Cub Busters are not expected to be seen this time either. Padres need to do it themselves, they really need that win today.

Pukey Butts just got robbed by Profar.
And NOW Peralta comes through with Merrill on base. Two more runs after Junior's HR in the first.
3–0 Padres
