Hard to blame Matsui for anything, he hasn't thrown a pitch since the Bush administration. For a good reason. It's been crunch time.

Matsui did fine against Shohei. No idea why Profar was playing so deep - it's like he was playing at no doubles ever depth, almost on the warning track - but the bases were empty, so that doesn't make sense - and Shohei is fast enough to stretch it into a double after Profar couldn't make the catch. That was 100% on Profar's positioning in the outfield, honestly. It's not like Dodger Stadium is a cavernous park. They were playing deep the entire series.

When they play the way they did tonight, they lose. They gotta put this behind them and finish strong.

The Braves and Royals could have weather complications tomorrow, depending on the remnants of Hurricane Helene, which could further complicate results. The Padres need two wins or a win and a Mets loss to take the 4 seed.

I can easily see them losing 3 against AZ. That’s the Padres I know… maybe this year really will be different. Maybe not.
At least they’re 100% in the WC mix … that’s not going away.

No-go on Kim. Still can't throw without pain and recovery, so I would suspect he's done, barring a deep run. Frustrating, as it creates a domino effect with Solano having to start and Arraez unable to get rest.

Let's go Royals! Let's go Brewers! Should be rooting for Atlanta. They have no real mathematical chance to pass the Padres, I'd rather they make it than Arizona.

Not sure that 3 days does the job, but it couldn't hurt. Hate to do the shuffle all over again, but they've gotta think about putting Ahmed at short, Cronenworth at 1st and X back to 2nd. Still leaves Wade and Solano for the bench. Unfortunately, they've got Arraez back at 1B tonight. Probably figure they need to win one of these games - if it's the first game, then everyone can get a break over the weekend. No play today for Freddy Freeloader. Wonder how bad that ankle is. Reportedly, he was wearing a support boot and using a crutch when he left Chavez Latrine last night.

Yo-yoing someone as fragile as Bogaerts isn't smart.

I wouldn't call it a wish, just the smart play based on the odds and them having to play a ton of games at the end to burn down their pitching.

Hopefully, Arizona does that on their own, as they are barely above .500 this month. Of course, we could always make it a bit tougher for them...
