Diamondbacks losing 5-4 to Mets in the 8th but I'll be shocked if they don't come back to win. Dodgers beating Baltimore 6-4 in the 5th. Atlanta wins so they come closer. BTW, I hate that Profar bunted in the 9th. I guess it's the right "Baseball move" but he was 2-2 so far this evening and he's our #2 hitter. You don't play for just 1 run with no outs when your closer will be coming in for the third time in 4 games. Cronenworth looked completely overmatched on his three straight swings. PLEASE put Merrill in the 3 spot, NOT Jake or Xander, no matter what Aztecryan's analytics say. Wasn't the right move and you absolutely do not move Merrill up. It's not "my" analytics, it's basic data. Stop being reactionary.

He's the ultimate team player, but I wish he was hitting away there.

Just a bad night hitting with RISP.
It happens--even to a hot team.

Pretty high leverage spot for Matsui, by far the highest of the game....and he gets the job done.

And he has shown himself to be impervious to stressful or pressurized situations. Why not try and put him there? Let it go for God's sake. Quit holding on to something that makes little sense.

You absolutely don't screw with that with a rookie. Cronenworth has been good against righties all season and has been good in the three spot overall. You're reacting to one game. The season long numbers translate to what's working and the team is winning.

2 good rookies on the field this series--Masyn Winn having a solid rookie season for the Cards.

The series started well, but ended with back-to-back thuds.

Close but they're not gonna score too many runs when they can only put 5 runners on base. Another day of sleeping bats.
Merrill's star continues to shine. #20 today and #76 on the RBI meter.
That error in the 3rd inning, killed them. Gotta do better.

Solano has done very well for us this year, but he's been a slump as of late. Can't wait until he gets untracked again. Oh yeah, and he does not like to walk.

Profar's regression has hit at the worst possible moment. 0-14 in that series and really, really slumping the last 30 days.

Profar's regression has hit at the worst possible moment. 0-14 in that series and really, really slumping the last 30 days. It's noticeable. Gotta wonder if the natural regression isn't being exacerbated by the target practice he's been involved with over the past few series. His running doesn't look fluid. But he's still out there. And yeah, the slump couldn't be happening at a more critical time. Arraez was also shut out today, which doesn't happen too often.

Yeah, hopefully he gets out of it real quick like.

And regression to his mean is going to be noteworthy… his career numbers are not great. Summed up, his 139 OPS+ (so far this season) is a career 98 - just average. He's/We've been living the dream so far this season. Let's hope what we're seeing is a minor correction and not a major one … Not much season left, and he needs to be This Year's Profar for just a little big longer.
