I wouldn't hold my breath there. The stench coming from the BP is causing many to hold their breath right now. When will it waft its way into the Padres' front office? I don't think fan reaction is going to cause them to operate differently. There's only a couple of players on the 40-man and they aren't better options. Every bullpen goes through growing pains and cyclical underperformance. There were a half dozen games yesterday alone where bullpens imploded across the league. It's a volatile element.

Padres decided not to win the game, the bullpen had nothing to do with the games result. you can near-reliably tell when the team decides not to compete.

Mazur opens with a BB. Let's see what happens next…
…hits the next batter.
Hoo boy.
And it's already 1-0.

Now 2-0. He's just not a good option. They're just sitting on his curveball because that's all he's got right now.
Wow. 30 pitches, 4 outs, 2 runs.
This clown sucks.
Oops he did it again. Two more runs. 4–0
GTFO.

Oops. He did it again.
Now 5–0 - doesn't make it out of the 4th. Another wasted effort. And more unnecessary innings in store for the BP as a result of Mazur's inability to get through successful start.
Game probably a lost cause as the Padres can't figure out how to hit a ball from the Seattle pitcher. Gilbert is kicking their AZZZZZtecs pretty hard.

Is there really nobody in our system that can pitch instead of him? I don't care if Brito has gotten bombed at El Paso, that's like pitching all your games at Coors Field. He can't be much worse than Mazur. I'm kind of surprised Preller hasn't pulled the trigger on getting another starter and bullpen arm. Teams must be holding out for more.

Half of the PCL is at elevation--LV, SLC, EP, Albuquerque and Reno.

Matsui still throwing trash. Yet another HR. Now 7–0. This team doesn't have the pitching consistency to get through the rest of the season much less the post-season.

Preller really sh*t the bed with his two Asian pitchers.
Woo Suk ($4.5M for 2 years) was a throw-in on the Arraez deal and was let go by the Marlins 3 weeks later.
Yuki Matsui ($28M for 5 years was way worse). He's horrendous in high-leverage situation and merely terrible in a lot of medium ones. I know he had that string of scoreless innings but I have zero faith in him in any games that matter.

Starting the all star break early? Doesn't usually matter how many we give up when we score 0 or 1. Lots of hitting lapses for this bunch.

Wadney Peralta leaves the game with injury. Oh well. One loser is simply replaced with another. Welcome De Los Suckos! Hello More Runs!

And Machado - back to his old ways again - GIDP to end the game.

This just in. Matsui, Peralta, and De Los Suckos all suck. I have more confidence in Kolek than any of those guys at this point. He's been pitching well.

Padres lose 3 straight at home, but hey, they've reached 2 million fans already.
Yay?

Mazur's got a lot of work ahead of him. The Mariners aren't a team of power hitters, but they sure looked like one last night. Much of that probably came from knowing exactly what Mazur was going to throw them due to his delivery habits. It was like he was throwing batting practice.
He needs more instruction and practice time before any further starting assignments in the bigs.

Bogaerts to Elsinore for a probably quick rehab.
Mazur sent down to Hell Paso, Gillaspie brought up for BP depth.
Peralta day-to-day with a groin strain.
No 5th starter needed for over 2 weeks, due the ASG break, along with other scheduled off days.

Ugh. I knew Solano was going to be thrown out at home. Just waiting for the call. It was so shallow.
