6 for 19 with RISP. And it wasn't good enough.

Suarez couldn't locate his pitches, but we got bailed out! Kinda happens when you've been used three days in a row after getting four outs with a day game after a night game in the middle of it. Well and now (ideally) you would like to give him two days off, which takes him out of the third game in the series. Or you make him available for the final game, and then he rests Monday - but it would have been cleaner/better to not use him in the first game, then use him in the final two games of the series, then he gets Monday off.

Shildt and the bullpen...a tale as old as time.

We could really use a deadline trade for a high leverage reliever.

Hopefully Cease returns to form tomorrow, and gets us back on the winning track.

"Legitimate chance Darvish does not return this season." - Kevin Acee.
The hope is that he does, though.

Darvisn's return timetable is going to be up to him, not us. That's for sure. I hope his family situation resolves itself - one way or another - just for their sakes. But family must always remain #1. So if he finds that he can't return soon, it'll mean the Padres must spend money for another bonafide starter - not some #6 guy. With Musgrove's situation still up in the air, and with no real guarantee someone else doesn't get hurt or hit the wall (King's ATR for season innings is squarely in front of him), adequate pitching for the next three months must be the focus of any trade talks - and that doesn't bode well for any "deals". Hopefully they don't have to settle for similarly lame pickups - like the ones they signed last season when Musgrove and Darvish went down. But since they're in a bind, the asking prices will be high. And, they're not the only team that's in the WC hunt and looking for arms to get them through the rest of the season. And that doesn't even address the BP depth (which is there, but is really underperforming right now)
Buckle up.

Profar, Tatis Jr, Suarez, Arraez and Merrill are all All-Stars.

Davis is worthless in the BP. No better in EP. Another SUXXOR. And now back out there for the 9th. Immediately loads the innings - no outs. It's Bottom of the barrel day in the BP. Matsui was up, probably a good plan to sit his AZZZZZZtecs back down. De Los Suckos on deck. Bases loaded. What's not to like - if you're a D-Bags fan, anyway.
Wow. Loserville in the BP today - apparently it's EVERY DAY now. Absolutely unbelievable - yet it's happening right now.

Profar, Tatis Jr, Suarez, Arraez and Merrill are all All-Stars. Will Smith, too. Maybe he'll get an opportunity to get up close and personal with Mr. Irrelevant … he will have to watch JP take the field as a starter while he sits on the bench. Would've been better if he'd had to do that watching from home, though.

Asshat De Los Suckos does it again. If he is still on this team tomorrow, AJ Preller needs to leave town.

Santos can't locate his pitches, Matsui can't throw strikes and is worse then his numbers look. We really need another good reliever.

Santos can't locate his pitches, Matsui can't throw strikes and is worse then his numbers look. We really need another good reliever. Their "middle" relief is really wrecked right now. And with Estrada's unknown illness - poor guy's lost 17 lb in the past few weeks - there's not a whole lot to like about the BP right now. I expect we'll see a few new faces from the 40-man roster in the next few weeks up for a cup of coffee. Because they've got to find something/someone to stop the flood of late inning failures before it gets any worse.

The stench coming from the BP is causing many to hold their breath right now. When will it waft its way into the Padres' front office?
